Qaaf Se Qanoon is a not for profit legal aid and education initiative by lawyers and law students to provide access to justice, quality legal advice and representation. The clinic's goals largely fall at two ends of the legal spectrum – legal literacy and legal aid – but also cover all aspects in between, including public interest research and drafting, legal advice and community empowerment. Se Qanoon does not "specialise" in any particular area of law but instead aims to assist anyone in need of legal assistance, particularly marginalized groups in society including women, children, informal labor, minorities and those without access to resources. This legal clinic is fueled by its belief in the power of the legal community as a whole to change the current climate of despair in Pakistan. By working at grassroots levels, it hopes to cultivate an understanding of the problems faced by various groups in society among law students and lawyers alike. In this manner the clinic is optimistic that it can lead by example, showing the legal community how it can help to resolve these problems in the way that they know best. With your support, this clinic can be an avenue to help people who feel they have no one to turn to while also inculcating in upcoming legal minds, a high moral and ethical code, a sense of purpose and a passion to live up to the inherent dignity of the profession, thereby changing the face of the legal practice in this city.
