Join us in another Panel Discussion on ‘Denial of Access to Capital and Continuing Social Injustice’ on Saturday, 29th May, 2021 at 10 AM (GMT +1) on zoom (link below) or catch us on Facebook Live.

The discussion will address the denial of capital by means of discrimination and how it led to an unequal distribution of social goods, which further led to a perpetuation of inequality across many societies. To unpack the underpinning causes and impacts of contemporary forms of social injustices, Mazeltov invites speakers to delve into how different laws and policies instigated at different times has lent itself to the continuation of disenfranchisement.

Our panellist includes:

Ms. Kaz Luery is a law graduate of both Staffordshire University and Durham University. Her main academic interests are international human rights and the relationship between the law and the working classes. As a huge football fan, Kaz managed to write her undergraduate dissertation on UK laws that unfairly punish working-class football fans and the desperate need for reform in this area. Outside of academia, Kaz is a keen skier, gardener, and more recently, weaver, on top of being an ardent voice for social justice and ensuring equality.

Mr. Brian Wong a Rhodes Scholar (2020) from Hong Kong (DPhil in Politics. He graduated with a Distinction in the MPhil in Politics (Theory) at Wolfson College, University of Oxford. He graduated with First Class Honours from Pembroke College, the University of Oxford with a BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, having attended Oxford on a full scholarship under the Kwok Scholars Association and as a Pembroke College Scholar. He is the Asia Lead for Polemix and the Founder and Director, Oxford Political Review.

Mr. Augustine Tanner-Ihm is an exceptionally gifted individual currently working for BBC Radio 4. He is a published writer, accomplished theologian, inspiring speaker and presenter, who somehow finds the time to also educate and campaign for judicial reform. Currently a PhD student in Culture and Theology in Texas and a Minister in the Church of England. Growing up in Chicago, he has travelled the globe speaking on matters close to his heart, such as race, reconciliation and spirituality. He has presented at schools all over the UK and the USA, and is an important figure in advocating for inclusion and diversion in the wider society.

Mr. Muneer Iqbal a Barrister of the Honorable Society of Lincoln’s Inn and an Advocate High Courts of Pakistan along with being an accredited mediator. He is a Managing Partner at Khosa & Iqbal Law. Muneer has used his unique voice to speak on a myriad of socio-legal issues as the host of a podcast series called Wakeel Sahab Podcast where he invites other lawyers to discuss different spectrums of law to make it easier for the layman to understand the law and use it to their advantage.

Mr. Ahmed Shafquat Hassan is currently working at the Centre for Peace and Justice as a Research Assistant. His primary focus is on constitutional law and human rights protection. He was called to the bar of England and Wales in 2018 by the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple and is an accredited Civil and Commercial Mediator with ADR-ODR International. After spending a year as a pupil barrister, working with Probir Neogi and Associates in 2019. Shafquat also obtained an LLM in International Law and Governance at Durham University. Shafquat is a published author having critiqued various policies, including the national budget and opining on a myriad of social issues, such as minority rights and secularism. Shafquat’s research has also been presented at multiple conferences on law and justice across numerous universities and orgaisations.

Our Legal Associate, Mr. Ahrar Jawaid Bhutto’s article on the "Law of Enforced Disappearances in Pakistan: Discrepancies and Comparison with International Law" has been featured by the Research Center of Lahore High Court in their Fortnightly Case Law Bulletin, Volume II, Issue VII.

This Fortnightly Case Law Bulletin, Volume II, Issue VII contains Judgments of Interest, in a summarized form on crucial legal issues, by the constitutional courts of local and foreign jurisdictions including, inter alia, Supreme Court of Pakistan, India and Canada and Articles from Manupatra, Harvard Environmental Law Review and Wiley Online Library.

This effort of the Research Center of Lahore High Court is extremely commendable as such exemplary initiatives go a long way in benefiting aspiring lawyers and the legal fraternity as a whole.

This is the story of Mr.Muddasir Hussain, his tragic tale begins on the 31st of December 2020, when his daughter, Afshan, aged 15 was kidnapped as she was coming back home. His son, showing great bravery, was able to follow the vehicle and note down it's number before they fied away. Mr.Muddasir was misguided repeatedly by the police, and the FIR was lodged after an absurd amount of time. Mr.Muddasir approached the High Court, wherein, the Honorable High Court directed the Police to pursue action against the criminals responsible for causing Mr.Mudassir and his family to bear an unimaginable amount of pain and distress. The Honorable High Court directed the DG Rangers, Home Secretery, DIG, SHO. We now need your help in getting Afshan back, if you have seen Afshan please contact us. Her photos are attached below.
