The Pakistani government has declared 2025 as the "Year of 5G," with a strategic plan to enhance the country's broadband infrastructure.
The government aims to achieve an average broadband speed of 50 to 100 Mbps, a significant increase from the current 15 Mbps, and expand Fiber-To-The-Site (FTTS) coverage from 20% to 60%.
The 5G spectrum auction is expected to take place in April 2025, marking a key milestone in the nation’s tech evolution. Additionally, the government plans to increase Fixed Broadband (FBB) pe*******on from less than 2% to 20% over the next five years.
To support this growth, efforts are underway to expand the Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) network, bridging the digital divide and laying the foundation for strong 5G connectivity.
