We are pleased to share a recent order passed in favour of our client by the Court of Civil Judge & Judicial Magistrate-I, Matiari.

We moved an application under Section 227 Cr.P.C. which was allowed by the Honourable Court, leading to amendment of charge in light of revised medical evidence. The injury was earlier erroneously categorized as Shajjah-i-Khafifa (Section 337-A(i) PPC) on the basis of the initial MLC, but same was reclassified as Shajjah-e-Mudihah, attracting Section 337-A(ii) PPC.

The matter was argued by our Partners Mr. Sajjad Zounr , alongside Mr. arbab Arbab Ali Shahbaz , who assisted the Court on the legal scope of Section 227 Cr.P.C, which empowers the Court to alter charges at any stage to align with the evidence on record. They were capably supported by Mr. Fawad Ali through research and drafting contributions.

We are elated to share that our dedicated partner, Mr. Shahbaz Ali Arbab, has successfully secured two significant orders from the Ex-Officio Justices of Peace consecutively on two days, one after the other.

Through compelling arguments, Mr. Arbab ensured that the police fulfill their legal duty to register FIRs when a cognizable offence is disclosed. The secured orders include:

(i) An order dated April 7, 2026, directing the SHO of Police Station Tando Jam to record our client's statement under Section 154 Cr.P.C. This case involves a bounced cheque amounting to Rs. 20,50,000.

(ii) An order dated April 8, 2026, directing the SHO of Police Station Market, Hyderabad, to record another client's statement under Section 154 Cr.P.C. This matter involves a dishonored cheque of Rs. 8,50,000.

We are pleased to share that bail has been successfully secured for our client in a case registered under Section 9(1)(3)(c) of the Sindh Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 2024, involving the alleged recovery of 1051 grams of charas.

After hearing the arguments and examining the record, the learned Court was pleased to allow the bail application, observing that the case calls for further enquiry within the meaning of the law.
