Service Beyond the Courtroom ⚖️

The Muslim Lawyers Group of ZAMBASULTA proudly rendered free legal aid and assistance to the residents of Rio Hondo in partnership with the Ummu Rawdha Medical Clinic, as part of the culmination program of the Ummu Rawdha Medical Mission.

Last night, volunteer lawyers from the group generously shared their time and expertise to provide free legal consultations and free notarization of simple affidavits, helping community members better understand their rights and access basic legal services.

Muslim Lawyers of ZamBaSulta at NCMF Grand Iftar Dinner

On March 14, 2026, our organization had the honor of being present at the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) Region IX A Grand Iftar Dinner at Palacio Del Sur (Marcian).

This historic gathering brought together Muslim legal professionals, government officials, Islamic scholars, and community leaders in a powerful show of unity during Ramadan. Alongside distinguished guests including Councilor Attorney Mel Sadain, Grand M***i Abdulwahid Injud (hafidhahullah), Former Mayor Celso Lobregat, and Congresswoman Dadah Ismula of Akbayan Party List, we reaffirmed our commitment to justice, human rights, and the rule of law in the BARMM.

The event underscored a vital truth: Muslim legal voices are integral to nation-building. We are grateful to Regional Director Rhoaisa Matolo-Mukaram, JD, and the NCMF for this meaningful occasion to strengthen bonds of solidarity and shared purpose.

Breaking bread together in this blessed month reminded us why we do this work—to uphold the dignity of all persons and build a stronger foundation for justice in our region and nation.

Muslim Lawyers Provide Free Legal Services During Ramadan Community Mission

On the evening of March 7, 2026, members of Muslim Lawyers in ZAMBASULTA participated in the Ramadan Medical Mission organized by Ummu-Rawdha Medical Clinic at Mahad Al Quran wal Hadith in Talon-Talon, Zamboanga City, held from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

During the activity, volunteer lawyers provided free legal consultation and free notarization services to members of the community. Individuals and families were able to seek guidance on various legal concerns and have important documents notarized without cost.

The initiative aimed to make legal assistance more accessible to underserved sectors while complementing the medical services offered during the mission. The participation of the lawyers reflected a shared commitment to public service during the blessed month of Ramadan.

Special appreciation is also extended to Malasa, who assisted the team as a paralegal, helping facilitate the consultations and supporting the lawyers throughout the activity.

The collaboration between medical and legal professionals during the mission demonstrated a collective effort to serve the community in a meaningful and practical way.

The Muslim Lawyers in ZAMBASULTA participated in the recent Medical and Minor Surgical Mission hosted by Ummu-Rawdha Medical Clinic, rendering free legal assistance to members of the community during the clinic.

While patients received medical attention, volunteer Muslim lawyers provided legal consultation to individuals seeking guidance on family concerns, documentation issues, civil disputes, and other pressing legal matters. The initiative reflected a shared commitment to service during the blessed month of Ramadan, recognizing that community welfare includes both physical well-being and access to justice.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the volunteer Muslim lawyers who generously gave their time and expertise. Public service requires sacrifice, and your presence demonstrated professionalism grounded in faith and responsibility.

We likewise give special recognition to the Muslim law students of Ateneo de Zamboanga University, through MALASA, for serving as reliable paralegals during the activity. Their assistance in documentation, intake interviews, and coordination ensured that legal services were delivered efficiently and with care.

This collaboration between lawyers and law students shows that service to the community is practical work carried out with competence, discipline, and commitment to justice.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Zamboanga City Licensing Center for their compassionate initiative in providing free duplicate driver’s license applications for the survivors of the MV Trisha Kerstin 3 tragedy.

In times of loss and recovery, acts like this restore dignity and help survivors rebuild what was taken from them.

In support of this effort, volunteer Notaries Public are also on standby to assist survivors in the preparation and notarization of their Affidavits of Loss, free of charge, to remove any additional burden during this difficult time.

This is how public service should work. Coordinated, compassionate, and responsive to the real needs of our people.

We thank the LTO and all volunteers who continue to stand with the survivors.

As lawyers, we know that justice is not passive. It is a constant struggle against those who abuse power.

Ya Allah, we ask You to aid the oppressed (Al-Mazlumin) and to hold the oppressors (Al-Zalimun) to account. Shatter the arrogance of the tyrants, expose the corrupt, and grant us the courage to speak truth to power without fear. Make us Your instruments in establishing equity and protecting the dignity of the weak.

May this month bring relief to the victimized and reckoning to the unjust.
