Happy 128th Independence Day, Philippines! 🇵🇭
Yesterday, I spent a good part of my morning reviewing, signing, and printing a reply affidavit for a client’s case before the Ombudsman.
Exhausting? Yes. But the moment I put down that last page and took a breath, I felt something I can only describe as relief mixed with purpose.
That’s the lawyer life nobody really talks about, the long hours behind the scenes, the careful reading of every word, the weight of knowing that what you put on paper could change someone’s life. It is tiring. But it is also deeply fulfilling when you see it through to the end.
This Independence Day, I am reminded that the fight our heroes began in 1898 is not over. It simply changed its form. Today, the battle against injustice, violence, and corruption continues, in every complaint filed, every right defended, every voice given the chance to be heard.
As lawyers, as citizens, as Filipinos, this is our own quest for freedom. Not just for ourselves, but for the people who come to us with nothing but their truth and their trust.
To my clients, thank you for trusting me with your fight.
To my fellow lawyers, keep going. The work matters.
To every Filipino, Maligayang Araw ng Kalayaan. 🇵🇭
May we never forget the meaning behind the celebration. 🙏⚖️♥️
