HAPPENING NOW:

The Western-Pacific Teacher Training and Development Center (WPTTDC) is currently on Day 3 of the National Seminar-Workshop in Early Childhood Education, themed "Empowering the Future: Integrating Child Protection Policies and Lifelong Learning Opportunities in Sustainable Early Childhood Care and Education."

Today's session, held on March 23, 2025, at Sam’s 21 Hotel, features Atty. Cyril Bryan D. Cuizon as the resource speaker. A private law practitioner, faculty member at UP-Cebu, and Director of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines Cebu Chapter. Atty. Cuizon presents the topic, "Integrating Child Protection Policies in Early Childhood Education."

The Local Health Leadership and Governance Program (LHLGP) Cycle 5 formally commenced on March 17, 2026, under the organization of the University of the Philippines Cebu, in partnership with the Department of Health Central Visayas. The program gathers local leaders from Cebu and Bohol to strengthen health governance and leadership in their respective communities.

The LHLGP is a leadership development initiative designed to build the capacities of Local Chief Executives (LCEs) and Municipal Health Officers (MHOs) as “bridging leaders” in advancing responsive and effective local health systems. As a sub-component of the Zuellig Family Foundation’s Health Leadership and Governance Program, it provides a structured learning journey complemented by coaching and mentoring from DOH Development Management Officers.

The program also builds on prior pre-selection activities where participating local government units assessed their health systems, identified priority issues, and aligned on strategies to address existing gaps.

Led by Project Leader Assoc. Prof. Ana Leah Cuizon and Assistant Project Leader Dr. Lorel Dee, the program sets the stage for a series of engagements focused on enhancing collaboration, leadership, and governance among participating local government units.

EVENT | EDSA at 40: From Memory to Mission

The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) Region VII, in partnership with Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu, gathers educators and students for the Forum on EDSA Kwarenta: “Tayo ang People Power: Perspectives on EDSA @ 40.”

As part of our shared commitment to keep the spirit of EDSA alive, this forum invites reflection on governance, Catholic social teachings, and the vital role of the youth in shaping our nation’s future.

This event is organized for CEAP schools as we deepen our understanding of faith, citizenship, and responsible participation in society.

The Commission on Human Rights–Central Visayas (CHR VII), in partnership with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP)-Cebu Chapter, UP Political Science Society (UPPSS), UP Center for Human Rights Education (UP-CHRE), UP Lantugi, and the University of San Carlos, successfully held the inaugural Central Visayas Human Rights Debate Cup on December 6, 7, and 10 in Cebu City. This event marked the culmination of the National Human Rights Consciousness Week, bringing together 50 student teams to debate on pressing human rights issues in an Asian Parliamentary-style format.

The tournament served as a platform for youth leaders to showcase their skills, share perspectives, and reaffirm their commitment to a just society respectful of human rights. In his keynote speech, IBP-Cebu President, Atty. Edmar B. Lerios emphasized the importance of using reason to advance human rights, urging debaters to "argue for rights, not for likes."

Cebu Doctor's University Team A and the University of San Jose Recoletos Team A emerged as Champions in the High School and College Category, respectively.

This initiative is an advocacy project of IBP Cebu Research Committee led by Atty. Cyril Bryan Cuizon. This reflects IBP Cebu's dedication in promoting justice, protecting human rights, and supporting its defenders. Atty. Cuizon is the concurrent Head of UP Cebu Center for Human Rights Education.
