Will Bulacan soon host the country’s next major aviation hub?
SMC Eyes 2028 Finish For Bulacan Airport, Calls It PH Game Changer
San Miguel Corporation Chairman Ramon Ang said the ₱740 billion New Manila International Airport in Bulacan is now the company’s top priority, with completion targeted in 2028 after earlier delays due to supply chain issues. First announced in 2019, the airport is expected to boost tourism, generate thousands of jobs, and help create new industries that could reduce dependence on OFWs and the BPO sector. SMC’s takeover of NAIA operations further cements its role in reshaping Philippine aviation. The company reported ₱43.4 billion in earnings in the first quarter of 2025, driven by a US$3.3 billion power deal, with core income rising 31 percent to ₱19 billion.
