๐จ CYBER THREATS AGAINST STUDENTS AND SCHOOLS ARE NOT A JOKE.
A message, post, comment, or online threat saying that someone will hurt students, attack a school, or commit violence may have serious legal consequences.
โ๏ธ WHAT LAWS MAY APPLY?
๐ ARTICLE 282 โ REVISED PENAL CODE
Threatening another person with a wrong amounting to a crime may constitute Grave Threats.
๐ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 10175 โ CYBERCRIME PREVENTION ACT
When an offense under the Revised Penal Code or another special law is committed through or by means of information and communications technology, Section 6 may apply.
๐ฎ THE PERSON BEHIND THE ACCOUNT SHOULD BE IDENTIFIED.
Do not assume that an anonymous account, fake profile, deleted post, or online username makes someone untouchable.
Authorities can investigate digital threats and determine who is responsible through lawful investigative procedures.
โ ๏ธ BUT WHAT IF THE PERSON IS A MINOR?
Being a minor does not mean that the incident can simply be ignored.
The law provides a separate juvenile justice framework. The child's age and whether the child acted with discernment matter in determining criminal responsibility. Civil liability may also remain.
โ DO NOT MAKE THREATS ONLINE.
โ DO NOT MAKE โJOKESโ ABOUT SCHOOL ATTACKS.
โ DO NOT SHARE OR REPOST THREATS AS A PRANK.
โ DO NOT ASSUME A FAKE ACCOUNT MAKES YOU ANONYMOUS.
If you receive a credible threat against a student or school:
๐ฑ Preserve the original message and relevant evidence.
๐ธ Keep screenshots and other available information.
๐ซ Report it immediately to the school.
๐ฎ Report serious threats to the appropriate authorities.
THREATS AGAINST STUDENTS AND SCHOOLS MUST BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY.
โ๏ธ Know the law. Protect our students. Keep our schools safe.
