Reverting to the words pointed by Atty. Noel Ben, director of the Marist Hope Center for Justice and Good Governance, "PUBLIC DOCTRINE IS A PUBLIC TRUST."
Yesterday, May 16, 11 members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan passed the proposal of the amendment to the Environmental Code of South Cotabato. It is a grave threat to the very core of the environment.
A Week to Remember
On 24 February 2022, 12 speakers, with their points to protect the Environment and to uphold the ban of Open Pit Mining, presented to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
Representing the Marist Hope Center for Justice and Good Governance, Atty. Noel reiterated the implications of the non-compliance to the IRR of the Environment Code. Without compliance therewith, it will bear legal consequences and therefore, shall initiate legal action against those who do not follow these rules. Moreover, the Public Trust Doctrine is being reminded to all listeners that the public office is a public trust, and must serve the people with utmost responsibility, to protect and preserve our environment.
