December 15, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 NN, at the MP Gym, Maasim Municipal Compound, we concluded our Legal Aid Requirement for our Clinical Legal Education Program this semester.

We were able to patiently assist our indigent clients with land dispute concerns, family and livelihood issues, and the notarization of simple affidavits, offering them not just legal advice, but hope, clarity, and dignity.

We are deeply grateful to our supervising lawyers whose expertise and compassion guided every consultation: Atty. Annalee Durana, Atty. Sara Mae Consolacion, Atty. Katrina Beatrice Hao, Atty. Beaulah Apostol, Atty. Carl Catedrilla, Atty. Edsel Deris-Lim and Atty. Joseph Marwin Jampas.

Your patience, wisdom, and willingness to serve reminded us that the practice of law is not only about statutes and pleadings, but about service, empathy, and justice for all. You inspired us to see the law as a living instrument for change especially for those whose voices are often unheard.

This activity was made possible in partnership with DENR Region XII, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines South Cotabato General Santos and Sarangani Chapters, MSU College of Law at MSU Gensan– Tanglaw Diwa Law Clinic, and the Maasim Local Government Unit.

December 8, 2025, REGIONAL REHABILITATION CENTER FOR YOUTH, Tantangan South Cotabato, EDUCATIONAL TOUR|

Yesterday’s visit to RRCY Region 12 left an imprint far deeper than we ever expected. Walking into a place where children in conflict with the law are being guided back toward hope, dignity, and a future—something shifted in all of us. It wasn’t just an exposure trip. It was a wake-up call.

Seeing their stories, hearing their struggles, and witnessing the quiet but powerful work of rehabilitation opened our eyes to the real weight of the profession we aspire to enter. It reminded us that the law is not just about statutes, pleadings, and courtroom battles—it is about people. It is about the lives interwoven with every case file, every narrative, every cry for second chances.

Being there challenged our perspectives. It confronted us with realities seldom discussed inside classrooms. And in those moments—listening, observing, and reflecting—we understood the heart of why we chose to dream of becoming legal practitioners in the first place: justice with compassion, advocacy with humanity, and service with purpose.

And to the incredible DSWD staff who welcomed us—even on a holiday—thank you. Your commitment, patience, and unwavering dedication to the youth under your care were truly inspiring. A special shout out to the center head, Ma’am Norhata C. Benito, whose leadership and compassion radiate throughout the center. The work you do every single day is nothing short of remarkable, and seeing it firsthand humbled us deeply.

To our CLEP adviser, Atty. Vicon Bañaga De Guzman —thank you for stepping outside the box and leading us into experiences that shape not only our skills but our character. Your dedication to bringing us closer to the real world of legal practice is something we deeply appreciate. This exposure did not just teach us—it moved us.

Yesterday’s visit reminded us that the law is alive. It breathes in the stories of people who are trying to rebuild their lives. And as aspiring future lawyers, we carry the responsibility to serve with empathy, courage, and a genuine desire to make justice more humane.

We left RRCY Region 12 with a fuller heart and a clearer purpose.

This is why we continue.

This is why we aspire.
