Nurses, carers, chefs and tradies on a 482: know these 3 rules before you change jobs.

2️⃣ Work only for your approved sponsor, in your nominated occupation.
3️⃣ If your job ends, you generally have up to 180 days to find a new sponsor, get another visa or leave.

Want to live, work and study in Australia permanently?

✅ Step 1: your occupation must be on the relevant skilled occupation list.
✅ Step 2: a suitable skills assessment.
✅ Step 3: under 45 when invited, competent English, and 65 points or more.
✅ Step 4: submit your Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect.
✅ Step 5: the 190 needs a state or territory nomination. The 189 doesn't.
✅ Step 6: once invited, you have 60 days to apply.
Both are permanent: work and study anywhere in Australia.

Kabayan, nasa Australia ka ba at balak mag-aral? New Student visa rules started on 2 October 2026. Here's what you need to know.

1️⃣ Most temporary visa holders in Australia can no longer apply for a Student visa onshore. You must be outside Australia when you apply and when it's granted.
2️⃣ Already on a Student visa? Applying for another one is affected too, unless an exemption applies.
3️⃣ Your partner or children can no longer be included in a Student visa application, unless an exemption applies.

✅ Hindi apektado ang current Student visa mo. Applications lodged before 2 October 2026 are assessed under the old rules.

Exemptions include a PhD, primary or secondary school, DFAT or Defence sponsorship, moving to a higher AQF level after finishing your course, up to 12 more months to finish with the same provider, and if your provider defaulted.

Kabayan, kung nasa Australia ka at nagpaplanong mag-aral, basahin mo muna ito. Simula 2 October 2026, may bagong rules kung sino ang pwedeng mag-apply ng Student visa (subclass 500) o Student Guardian visa (subclass 590) habang nasa Australia.

Paying for a visa in ImmiAccount by card? From today, 1 October 2026, there's no more card surcharge. 💳

The Department of Home Affairs has confirmed it will stop charging the card payment surcharge on the Visa Application Charge from 1 October 2026. The charge itself does not change.

This follows the Reserve Bank of Australia's ban on surcharges for debit, prepaid and credit card payments on the eftpos, Mastercard and Visa networks.
