🎤💸 IN YOUR CONCERT ERA?

Before you buy that “last slot” concert ticket online… read this first.

Ticket scalping and ticket fraud are becoming more common in the Philippines, especially with the rise of online selling and social media transactions.

👉 What is ticket scalping?
It’s the resale of tickets at a much higher price than the original. Think: ₱3,000 ticket → ₱15,000 resale.

👉 What is ticket fraud?
This is worse. Fake, duplicated, or non-existent tickets. You pay, but you don’t get in. 😬

⚖️ Is ticket scalping illegal in the Philippines?
Not exactly! There is no single national law banning it outright. However:

* Some LGUs have local ordinances regulating or prohibiting scalping (e.g. Pasay City, which hosts major event venues such as the Mall of Asia Arena, World Trade Center, SMX Convention Center, and the Cultural Center of the Philippines; and Quezon City, where the Araneta Coliseum, Kia Theatre, and Skydome are located)
* It may violate the Consumer Act of the Philippines (RA 7394) if it becomes deceptive or abusive
* Fraudulent ticket selling can be charged as estafa under the Revised Penal Code

💻 If done online?
It can escalate to cybercrime liability under the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 (RA 10175)

⚠️ Common scams to watch out for:

* Fake e-tickets or duplicated QR codes
* “Reserved” tickets that don’t exist
* Sellers who disappear after payment
* “Too good to be true” VIP deals

📌 What can you do if you get scammed?

* File a complaint with the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group or NBI
* Report to the DTI for consumer protection
* Consider filing a criminal case for estafa
* You may also pursue civil action for damages

✅ Tips to protect yourself:
✔ Buy only from authorized sellers (e.g., official ticketing platforms)
✔ Always ask for proof of legitimacy
✔ Keep receipts and screenshots
✔ Avoid rush deals and suspicious payment methods

📣 Bottom line:
Not all scalpers are illegal—but once deception is involved, it becomes a serious legal issue.

Don’t let your excitement cost you thousands. Be smart. Be cautious.
