A month ago, a client sought our legal assistance for her seriously ill son. Burdened by hospital bills, she needed an Affidavit of Undertaking to allow her son to continue treatment outside the hospital. Understanding her plight, we rendered our services pro bono and extended some help.

Early this morning, a lady entered our office carrying a basket of goods. She approached my table and said: “Atty., pinabibigay po ni Ma’am yung tinulungan ninyo noon. Nagpapasalamat po siya at magaling na rin ang anak niya.”

Truly, the best seed to grow is the seed of good deeds and the best soil to plant it is in our heart.
Lawyering is serving, anyway.

📣 𝗦𝗘𝗖 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴

The Securities and Exchange Commission has revised the guidelines on corporate governance training and accreditation of institutional training providers through Memorandum Circular No. 25, Series of 2026.

The revised guidelines aim to strengthen oversight of governance education across covered entities and align with international best practices pursuant of the SEC's regulatory authority to set rules and regulations under Section 179(d) and (o) of Republic Act No. 11232, otherwise known as the Revised Corporation Code of the Philippines (RCCP).

𝗦𝗘𝗖 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has suspended the certificate of authority of Golden Alliance Credit Corporation to operate as a lending company for 60 days for failure to pay annual fees.

In a resolution dated July 9, the SEC Financing and Lending Companies Department (FLCD) found Golden Alliance Credit to have committed three violations of Rule 3(d)(ii), in relation to Rule 8(c), of the implementing regulations and regulations (IRR) of Republic Act No. 9474, or the Lending Company Regulation Act (LCRA) of 2007.

Rule 3(d)(ii) of the LCRA IRR requires lending companies to pay an annual fee, as part of its licensing fees, within 45 days before the anniversary date of the issuance of their certificate of authority, while Rule 8(c) prescribes the administrative sanctions the SEC may impose against erring lending companies.
