Appeared today before the Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) of Lapu-Lapu City as counsel for the accused in multiple counts of Batas Pambansa Blg. 22 cases.

After the hearing, it was time to slow down a little and enjoy a lunch date, a simple reminder that even in a profession defined by deadlines, hearings, and constant preparation, making time for life’s quieter moments is equally important.

Grateful for another opportunity to serve, advocate, and fulfill the responsibilities of the legal profession with diligence and integrity.

One misconception that occasionally surfaces is the belief that when a lawyer represents an accused person, the lawyer is automatically representing criminals or supporting criminal acts.

Atty. Abelardo C. Quilaton Jr. once again participated in a 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 where various legal issues of public interest were discussed and explained in a manner accessible to the listening public.

Among the topics raised during the program were questions regarding the Safe Spaces Act, including its purpose, the possible penalties upon conviction, its distinction from cyber libel, and whether the law applies exclusively to women and members of the LGBTQ+ community or extends protection to all individuals.

The discussion also touched on procedural matters arising from recent news reports involving the arrest of a public figure, including questions on the posting of bail during holidays and weekends, the availability of courts for urgent matters, and the legal process involving the issuance of warrants of arrest.

Another important issue discussed was whether a person may become the subject of a warrant of arrest despite claiming that he or she was unaware of a complaint and was therefore unable to submit a counter-affidavit during the preliminary investigation stage.

Appeared for the Plaintiffs today in an Abatement of Nuisance case before the Regional Trial Court of Lapu-Lapu City.

Under Philippine law, a nuisance refers to an act, condition, structure, or activity that unlawfully interferes with the use and enjoyment of property or affects the exercise of a legal right. When such conditions exist, the law provides remedies that may include the abatement or removal of the nuisance through appropriate legal proceedings.

Cases involving property rights often require the courts to balance competing interests while ensuring that legal rights are respected and protected.
