With hearts full of gratitude, we look back on a meaningful legal aid mission held in Brgy. Cogon Pardo, Cebu City, Cebu last April 26, 2026. The day was marked by a shared commitment to serve and make the law more accessible to the community.

We are especially honored by the presence of the UV-Gullas Law School Associate Dean Atty. Darling Chyrmyth Wagas-Estorgio and CLEP Director Atty. Wennonah Marie R. Garces. Their leadership, guidance and dedication to public service continue to inspire both students and fellow practitioners, reinforcing the true essence of the legal profession as a vocation for service.

This initiative would not have been possible without the unwavering support and steadfast commitment of our supervising lawyersโ€” Atty. Mildred Marie Lacostales, Atty. On March 18, 2026, fifty-five (55) students of the University of the Visayas-Gullas Law School (UV-GLS) proudly took their oath as Level II Certified Law Student Practitioners (LSPs) at Mandarin Plaza Hotel, Cebu City.

The ceremony was graced by Regional Trial Court - Cebu City Executive Judge Anacleto G. Debalucos who administered the oath and served as keynote speaker. In his message, he reminded the newly sworn LSPs to carry with them the guiding โ€œ๐Ÿ’๐๐ฌโ€ โ€” to ๐ฉ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ž despite lifeโ€™s challenges; to stay ๐ฉ๐š๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ž in the continuous pursuit of legal knowledge; to uphold a ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž ๐š๐ญ๐ญ๐ข๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐ž in all circumstances; and to remain steadfast in ๐ฉ๐ซ๐š๐ฒ๐ž๐ซ for guidance and strength as they embark on their legal journey.

The program was further enriched by an inspiring message from Atty. Merit Adrian J. De la Victoria, encouraging the LSPs to pursue justice with integrity and compassion. This was followed by a heartfelt response from Christian Jacob T. Pospia on behalf of the LSPs.

The event also featured the induction of the incoming officers of the Gullas Institute of Legal Aid Services, Inc. (๐†๐ˆ๐‹๐€๐’, ๐ˆ๐ง๐œ.), reinforcing the institutionโ€™s commitment to legal aid and community service.

This milestone would not have been possible without the unwavering support of Dean Joseph Randi C. Torregosa, Associate Dean Darling Chyrmyth Wagas-Estorgio, and CLEP Director Wennonah Marie R. Garces whose leadership continues to shape future legal professionals, with distinguished guests and esteemed faculty of UV-GLS taking part in this meaningful occasion.

More than a ceremony, the oath serves as a powerful reminder of their duty to uphold the rule of law and remain steadfast in their pursuit of justice.

GILAS Joins the Consortium of Green Legal Clinics in the Philippines ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ

The Gullas Institute of Legal Aid Services Inc. (GILAS Inc.), of the University of the Visayas โ€“ Gullas Law School, is honored to officially join the Consortium of Green Legal Clinics in the Philippines through a Memorandum of Agreement signed with the Philippine Earth Justice Center, Inc. (PEJC Inc.) at the UV Gullas Law School Moot Court on March 12, 2026.

This milestone marks a significant step in our continuing commitment to legal aid, environmental protection, and community empowerment. As part of this growing network, GILAS Inc. aims to actively contribute to advancing environmental justice while strengthening our clinical legal education program.

Through this partnership, our law students will be given meaningful opportunities to work on real environmental and community concernsโ€”allowing them to translate legal theory into impactful action. We believe that the law is not only a profession, but a powerful instrument for safeguarding the rights of communities and preserving our environment.
