So, I tried asking AI to provide me an instruction how to create a scrolling post or what we digital marketers call the CAROUSEL.
Here's what I got:
To create an Instagram carousel, follow these steps:
1. Open the Instagram app and tap the plus sign on the bottom center of the screen.
2. Select the photos or videos you want to include in your carousel by tapping the multiple image icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. You can include in your carousel by tapping the multiple image icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.
3. Choose the order of your photos or videos by tapping and holding each one to drag and drop.
4. Edit your photos or videos as desired using the app's editing tools.
5. Add a caption and location tag as desired.
Tap "Share" to post your carousel to your Instagram profile.
hmmm... This is good. But I have been using Canva for my carousels lately. And I would love to share it with you.
Canva also have template designs for carousel posts, but I also prefer this style being that it creates seamless and aligned images after having been downloaded from the cutting tool.
This is what I love about Canva lately, it keeps on improving and now has options to make my asset creating easier.
This rather tedious design to make is now made easier than before.
As mentioned, I am going to show you another way of creating a carousel, to which, as for me, this is a bit faster and easier to design. Utilizing the camera roll can still be messy sometimes, especially if the photos were taken days before you'll use it or were not originally intended to create scrolling image post.
Here are some steps (and tools) to create this cute post style:
1. Go to Canva and select Create Design / Choose social media Instagram post
2. Resize the pixels first to 5400 x 1080 px
3. Tap Files / View Settings / Show Ruler & Guide to help with the (maths) sizing.
4. Now this is a little tricky at first, but rather simple:
Decide how many tile you are going to create.
This size can fit 5-6 squares of 1080 x1080 px and I usually divide my carousel to 5 pages (so add 1080 +1080 = 2160 and so on)
5. DRAG the (y)line of the ruler guide from the leftmost part of the screen, as this will also serve as the dividers/partition per page IG post.
6. Time to Design 🙂 Be creative and imagine how the flow of the swipe and distribution of images will create an impact on your audience.
Use elements that suggests the flow of the message or images *like arrows that will drag the eyes of your audience to the left like a call to action what they will do naturally.
Make sure that the images are still within the margins set by Canva so it won't appear spliced when you put it up for IG posting.
7. Download the images as .jpg or .png to your device or airdrop it to your phone, Google Drive is okay too.
8. Here's the cool part: A cropping/cutting Tool to equally divide or cut the whole banner sized pictures as 5-6 images to post on IG.
This helps create the seamless design. You can use:
- Unsquared
- Instagram Panorama crop
For Desktop use
- Adobe Photoshop or
- mysocialbotique website https://mysocialboutique.co/instagram-grid-maker/
After which, upload to your Instagram post.
You'll find it so nice to have a coherent, seamless lineup of pictures that gives value to your audience.
I had fun making this, as always. Because of Canva, I think I'm going to be making carousels more often than I intend to.
