Making Taxes Simple for Every Juan

💡 Did You Know?

Qualified micro and small businesses may benefit from reduced BIR penalties under the Ease of Paying Taxes (EOPT) Act.

📚 Know the Law

Under Republic Act No. 11976, also known as the Ease of Paying Taxes (EOPT) Act, qualified micro and small taxpayers are granted reduced penalties under certain provisions of the National Internal Revenue Code (NIRC).

For qualified taxpayers:

✅ The surcharge under Section 248 of the NIRC is reduced from 25% to 10%.

✅ The interest under Section 249 of the NIRC is reduced by 50%.

✅ The penalty for failure to file certain information returns under Section 250 of the NIRC is reduced from ₱1,000 to ₱500.

📌 Tax Tip

Knowing your taxpayer classification is important because the EOPT Act provides specific concessions to qualified micro and small taxpayers.

Maintaining accurate records and filing tax returns on time remain the best ways to avoid penalties and stay compliant with tax laws.
