Te Aro Law is a small law firm in central Wellington providing criminal defence, family law, civil and Waitangi Tribunal representation.
We are seeking an intermediate or senior criminal defence lawyer with at least 4 years PQE, and preferably PAL2 or higher.
Candidates must:
- Be passionate about criminal justice issues and social justice more generally.
- Have a good understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and (if Pākehā), Pākehā partnership obligations.
- Be willing to work with a range of clients from different backgrounds and display empathy and open-mindedness in this work.
- Have experience working in teams and a desire to foster a collaborative and connected work environment.
- Be keen and able to supervise and mentor more junior staff members.
Applicants will also ideally have an interest in working in other areas of litigation including family and civil, and enjoy a workload that is mostly legally aided.
