This weekend the Elif girls swapped legal files for power tools and got stuck into the start of our next little office project… our soon-to-be staff room.

Because even family lawyers need a space to recharge between big conversations, heavy files, and the occasional coffee-fuelled strategy session ☕️

There may have been a little DIY chaos, a few questionable measurements, and plenty of laughs along the way — but we’re officially underway.

Slowly but surely we’re building a space that feels just like Elif:

warm, welcoming, and a little bit less ordinary.

International Women’s Day

Today we celebrate the incredible wāhine who make Elif what it is.

Three women. Three very different journeys. One shared commitment to showing up for our clients, our community, and each other — every single day.

Family law often means meeting people on some of the hardest days of their lives. It takes empathy, courage, patience, and a whole lot of heart. We’re incredibly proud to stand alongside so many strong women — our clients, colleagues, and community — navigating those moments with resilience and strength.

To the wāhine who lead, support, nurture, advocate, rebuild, and keep going even when things feel heavy — we see you, we celebrate you.

At Elif, we’re proud to be a women-led team working to make family law more human, more compassionate, and a little less intimidating.

Happy International Women’s Day.
Ngā mihi nui ki ngā wāhine katoa 💛

Family law has its own language.

And honestly… some of the words can sound a little intimidating.

Affidavit.
Respondent.
Without notice.

If you’ve ever read a legal document and thought “I have absolutely no idea what that means” — you’re definitely not alone.

The truth is, you’re not meant to know this stuff. That’s our job.

At Elif Family Law, we believe the legal process should feel clearer, calmer, and a whole lot more human. We’ll always translate the legal jargon into plain English so you understand what’s happening and what comes next.

Because family law is already hard enough — the language shouldn’t make it harder.

A little less jargon.
A little more clarity.
A lot more manaaki.

✨ Swipe through as we translate some legal words that sound scary (but really don’t need to be).

Big news from the Elif Family Law team ✨

We are so pleased to share that we are now partnered with JustFund — helping our clients access funding for relationship property matters when they need it most.

We know that separating finances can feel overwhelming, especially when legal costs and delays add extra pressure during an already emotional time. This partnership means eligible clients may be able to access funding to move their relationship property matters forward sooner, rather than putting important decisions on hold.

In true Elif style, this is all about making family law more accessible, more human, and a little less daunting.

Clear options. Practical solutions. Support when it matters most.

Because everyone deserves the ability to resolve their future with confidence — not just when the timing feels “perfect.”

Empathetic Relationships. Bold Advocacy. 💛

Roses are red 🌹
Violets are blue 💙

Have you talked about what happens if things don’t work out… the two of you? 👀

Valentine’s Day is all about love, connection and big feelings — but it’s also a beautiful reminder that strong relationships are built on honest conversations.

A Contracting Out Agreement isn’t about planning for the end. It’s about protecting each other, being clear about expectations, and starting your life together on solid ground.

Because nothing says “we’re in this thoughtfully” like:

❤️ Open communication
❤️ Clear agreements
❤️ No surprises down the track

At Elif Family Law, we help couples navigate these conversations in plain English — warm, respectful, and without the awkwardness.

Flowers fade.
Chocolate disappears.
Peace of mind? That sticks around. 💫

Family law can feel heavy.
Confusing.
A little terrifying.

We get it.

That’s why we focus on making things clearer, calmer, and a whole lot more human — real conversations, plain English, and support that actually feels supportive.

No unnecessary jargon.
No cold boardrooms.

Just thoughtful, practical guidance when it matters most.

Because good family law isn’t about making things harder — it’s about helping people breathe again 💛

Yes… we know. We’re late. But we promise it was for very good reasons.

We hit pause over summer, swapped emails for sunshine, and properly recharged:

🌊 Ronja soaked up beach days with her kids and dusted off the riding boots for some horse riding
🏡 Chelsea spent time with her family in Auckland and adventured her way around the Waikato
☀️ Ashley escaped north, enjoying the Far North with her whānau

Now we’re back, well-rested, slightly sun-kissed, and ready to tackle 2026 head-on.

Thanks for your patience while we soaked up summer – we’re refreshed, re-energised, and very happy to be back 🤍

Let’s do this, 2026.

As this year comes to a close, we want to pause and say thank you — ngā mihi nui.

It has been a big year for us, both personally and professionally. We’ve grown from a team of one to a team of three, moved into new premises, renovated our office, and taken time to celebrate just how far we’ve come.

But none of this happens without you.

To our clients: thank you for choosing us and placing your trust in us — mihi kau ana ki a koutou. Allowing us to walk alongside you through some of your hardest days is a privilege we never take lightly. Your courage, strength, and openness inspire us every day.

From all of us at Elif Family Law, tēnā rawa atu koutou.

We are deeply grateful — he mihi aroha — and we look ahead with hope and gratitude to the year to come.

💛

We like to think of this as team building… but with horses 🐎🥂

Our Christmas work do took us trackside for a day of good laughs, great company, and a well-earned pause before the end-of-year rush.

So lovely to share it with the wonderful Sian from Base Law Lawyers and Jen from Creating Wealth — because collaboration, connection, and cheering each other on (sometimes quite literally) is what we’re all about.

Grateful for this team, this community, and a year that’s been anything but ordinary 🤍

🎄 Holiday Closure Notice 🎄

From 12.00 pm on 23 December, our inboxes will be out of office, our files will be closed, and our lawyers will be engaging in very serious activities like eating too much pavlova and arguing over the pav… 😄

We’ll be back on deck and ready to go on 14 January 2026.

If you need anything before we close, please reach out early so we can help you wrap things up before the wrapping paper comes out.

Thank you for being part of our year, we’re grateful for the trust you’ve placed in us. Wishing you and your whānau a restful, joyful break and a strong start to the new year.

See you in 2026 (same commitment, better tans ☀️).

Gumboot Friday 2025 🥾💛

Today we’re swapping heels and dress shoes for pūtu / gumboots — and making a donation to support free mental health counselling for rangatahi across Aotearoa.

Because sometimes life feels a bit muddy. And sometimes the bravest thing you can do is ask for help. Kei roto katoa tatou i tenei — we are all in this together.

If wearing gumboots helps even one young person feel seen, supported, and less alone — consider it done. 🥾✨

Haere tahi tātou.
Let’s walk this together.

If you’re able to donate too, here’s the link:
