In our boardroom hangs a print of a kōtuku taking flight 🕊️, also from the Tangata Whenua gallery in Ōpōtiki.

When Rotherham Law was first started, this print felt like the perfect fit to mark the beginning of a new journey ✨. Over time, it’s also come to represent many of our clients next chapter after separation 🤍

Separation doesn’t always start with someone moving out 💔🏠

Sometimes it happens slowly.
Sometimes people are already living very separate lives while still sharing the same house.

A few signs things may have shifted include:

• You’re no longer functioning as a couple day-to-day
• Finances have become separate 💳
• You sleep in separate rooms 🛏️
• Communication is limited or focused only on the children or household logistics 📅
• Friends and family know the relationship has changed 👥
• One or both of you consider the relationship to be over

Many people are surprised to learn you can still be considered “separated” while living under the same roof.

There are often practical reasons for this. Children 👧👦, finances 💰, housing pressures 🏡 or simply needing time to work out next steps.

If you’re unsure where things stand legally, or what separation means for parenting, property or finances, it’s worth getting clear advice early ⚖️

You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting the conversation 🤍

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our pink breakfast in May💕

We appreciate everyone’s time and generosity. It was wonderful to see our community connect, share and show support in such positive way. Thanks to everyone’s donations, we are proud to have raised over $800 for Breast Cancer New Zealand. The support makes a real difference and we are so grateful to be part of such a caring community.

A few special pieces have come with us into the new Rotherham Law office 🤍

These carved paddles come from Tangata Whenua Gallery in Ōpōtiki. It's a place that holds a deep connection for Rachael and her family.

Each paddle carries special meaning. Together, they represent not only Rachael’s immediate family, but also the five wāhine who have made this move into a new space so special.

They symbolise direction, strength, movement and journey. All of us working together in the same waka, heading forward together.

The beautiful Māori carving detail makes them even more special.

The D word.

Divorce.

It doesn’t need to be scary.

It does need support, practical advice and a plan.

A great evening recently at Fife Lane supporting the incredible work of Kura Kai NZ ✨

Rachael attended as a guest of Rebecca Savage and Lisa Speed from Holland Beckett

Kura Kai helps provide food support to schools and children who need it most. It's widely accepted that good food can make a real difference to learning, wellbeing and everyday life for many families. We love events that raise awareness of an organisation doing genuinely important work in our communities.

The added bonus is that you get to connect with local people and businesses coming together to support causes that matter 🤍
