The threshold for High Court approval has increased from $15,000 to $40,000. This is great news for clients dealing with smaller estates as it means banks and Kiwisaver providers will be able to release funds without Court involvement.

What a fantastic morning yesterday at our Speed Networking Event with such a great turnout of local Selwyn businesses! The room was buzzing with great conversations, new connections and a real sense of collaboration.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a success - your support helped raise $320 for Selwyn Parenting Network with all ticket proceeds going directly to them. It’s amazing to see local businesses coming together not only to grow but to give back to the community.

We’re already planning the next event for October, so stay tuned - we’d love to see you there!

Difference between Shareholders and Directors?

While shareholders in a company are the owners of a company, their role is passive except in relation to the approval of major transactions. Shareholders do not have a role in the management or strategic planning of the company - that is the role of the directors.

You don't have to be a shareholder to be a director and there can be a lot of benefit in having an independent director.

How much say a shareholder has in the company will depend on the voting rights set out in the company's constitution or the shareholders agreement.
