⚠️ Emergency Mobile Alert Test – Sunday 14 June ⚠️

Don't be alarmed if your phone suddenly makes a loud noise on Sunday evening.

The annual nationwide test of New Zealand's Emergency Mobile Alert (EMA) system will be sent to all capable mobile phones and SIM-connected devices between 6pm and 7pm on Sunday 14 June.

The test helps ensure the system works as intended and can be relied upon during real emergencies.

❗ If you have a hidden phone for personal safety, or if the alert may affect your physical or mental wellbeing, Civil Defence recommends turning off SIM-connected devices or putting them into flight mode during the testing period.

📱 If you receive the alert, you can mute the sound by pressing the volume button on the side of your phone while still keeping the message visible on screen.

For more information, visit the Emergency Mobile Alert page at Get Ready.

🍺 After three successful Pints of Business events in the Manawatū, we're excited to see the concept being taken to the Business North Harbour community in Auckland this July.

What started as a partnership between the Manawatū Business Chamber and Massey Business School has created a unique opportunity for business leaders to connect directly with academics, share experiences, discuss challenges, and explore practical solutions in a relaxed and engaging environment.

While the business communities of the Manawatū and North Harbour, Auckland, each have their own strengths and characteristics, they share many of the same opportunities and challenges. We are proud to see a Manawatū-born initiative expanding and creating connections beyond our region.

We wish our colleagues at Business North Harbour, and the Massey Business School Albany team, every success with their event and look forward to hearing the conversations and insights that emerge.

And for those in the Manawatū... 👀

Watch this space.

Pints of Business will be back later this year, with discussions set to focus on one of the biggest topics facing New Zealand businesses — the upcoming election.

What policies matter most to business? What opportunities and challenges could lie ahead? And what should business leaders be thinking about as election season approaches?

More details coming soon.

🩸 National Blood Donor Week | 8–14 June 2026 🩸

Did you know that one blood donation can help save up to three lives?

This National Blood Donor Week, the New Zealand Blood Service is encouraging workplaces, community groups, friends, and families to organise "Bloody Important Meetings" — a chance to donate blood together and make a real difference.

Blood donations are needed every day to support patients undergoing surgery, cancer treatment, emergency care, and more.

Why not gather a group from your workplace and turn your next meeting into something truly life-changing?

A small amount of your time could make a huge difference to someone else's future.

🩸 Give blood. Save lives.
❤️ Make it a Bloody Important Meeting.

🌱 Monday Motivation 🌱

“Success is not about being the best. It's about being better than you were yesterday.”

As we head into a new week, remember that progress doesn't always have to be dramatic. Sometimes the biggest wins come from solving a problem, helping a customer, supporting a colleague, or simply taking the next step forward.

Keep building, keep learning, and keep showing up.

Have a great week, Manawatū!
