Last week, Chris, his partner Bridget, Ayla and Karyn had the opportunity to attend the ALPMA + ALTA Summit and LANZ Conference in Geelong, Victoria.

This year's theme, "Back to the Future," explored the evolving landscape of the legal profession, with a strong focus on artificial intelligence and the speed at which it is transforming our workplaces.

A key takeaway was that while AI is increasingly shaping how we work, learn, and access information, the value of human connection remains unchanged. Trust, experience, empathy, and meaningful relationships continue to sit at the heart of great client service.

Technology will continue to influence the future of our profession, but people will continue to choose people.

As you can see from the photos, we fully immersed ourselves in the conference and are excited to bring these insights back to the team and continue exploring how innovation can enhance the way we support our clients and communities.

Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest financial decisions many Kiwis will ever make.

It's exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming.

As we move towards spring, we traditionally see an increase in property market activity, with more homes coming to market and more people considering their next move.

That's why one of the most common questions we hear is:

"What should I know before buying or selling a house?"

Every property transaction is different, and having the right support can help you understand your options, manage risks, and move forward with confidence.

Whether you're a first-home buyer, looking to upsize, downsize, or sell an investment property, getting the right advice early can make all the difference.

If you're considering buying or selling property this spring, our team is here to provide guidance and support throughout the process.

We're always happy to have a conversation.

What a fantastic afternoon at the rugby with our Legal Solutions whānau!

On Saturday, we invited our families along to Stadium Taranaki, which was looking absolutely amazing, for an afternoon of great company and great rugby.

It was even better cheering on the mighty Taranaki Bulls as they secured a victory over last year's champions, Canterbury.

It doesn't get much better than an afternoon of footy spent with the people who matter most.

Thanks to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a memorable day

The Taranaki rural property market is back on the move.

Data shared at this week's Property Brokers Taranaki Rural Professionals Breakfast shows:

• More farms are selling
• Dairy farms are leading the activity
• Land values are holding up well
• There are fewer farms available for sale than a year ago

Over the past year, rural sales in Taranaki jumped 65%, with almost $380 million worth of properties changing hands.

It's a positive sign for the region and reflects growing confidence across the rural sector.

Thanks for hosting Property Brokers New Plymouth , it was brilliant to be able to get together as rural professionals .

Thinking about buying a home this spring? Start building your team now.

The property market often gets busier as the weather warms up, so having the right people in your corner before you start house hunting can make a big difference.

As Legal Solutions Property Lawyer Caitlin Dalbeth says

"Get a good team behind you. Have a lawyer, have a mortgage broker, have an insurance advisor."

Getting organised early can help you move with confidence when the right property comes along.

First Home Buyers Are Back in the Market. Here's Caitlin Dalbeth's Advice Before You Make an Offer

No Question Is Too Small: Advice for First Home Buyers

First home buyers continue to play a major role in New Zealand's property market. In the first quarter of 2026, they accounted for 27.5% of all property purchases nationwide, remaining near record highs. Over the past 12 months, first home buyers purchased around 24,800 properties, the highest annual total since 2021.

While more Kiwis are entering the market, buying your first home can still feel overwhelming.

That's something Legal Solutions Property Lawyer Caitlin Dalbeth understands well.

"Although this world is known to us and we do this every day, for a lot of people they don't really know what's going on, and just helping guide them through it."

One of the most common mistakes Caitlin sees is first home buyers not asking enough questions.

"Probably not asking enough questions."

With so much information available online, it can be difficult to know what's accurate and what's not.

"There's a lot of information out there now... There's a lot of misinformation out there as well."

Her advice is simple:

"Anything and everything. Anything they're worried about."

Caitlin also encourages buyers to seek legal advice before making an offer.

"Before putting in an offer for sure."

"If you're a first home buyer, you're not sure what's going on, talk to the lawyer first."

She recommends building a strong team around you from the start.

"Get a good team behind you. Have a lawyer, have a mortgage broker, have an insurance advisor."

And remember:

"The sellers agent doesn't work for you. The insurance broker, the mortgage broker, the lawyer, they work for you."

At Legal Solutions, we know buying your first home is more than a transaction. It's a major milestone. That's why Caitlin's approach is simple:

"Not taking any question as too small."

Sometimes the best first step toward home ownership is simply asking the question.

Friday night was all about good people, good music, and plenty of fun!

A group of us headed along to the Life Education Trust Taranaki Music Trivia event and had a fantastic time.

There may have been more dancing shoes than correct answers, but we made up for it with enthusiasm and laughter!

Putting People First, One Stitch at a Time

At Legal Solutions, one of our core values is Putting People First.

During July, our team came together for a Knitting for Premmies project, creating blankets for premature babies and their families. What started as a community initiative quickly became something much more.

Led by experienced knitters, Philippa Blinkhorne and Amanda Bound, who generously mentored many of our novice knitters, the project brought people together from across the firm. Alongside plenty of laughs and learning, it created opportunities for team members to connect with colleagues they wouldn't normally spend time with and to get to know each other beyond their day-to-day roles.

The project resulted in an incredible 13 blankets, supported not only by our team but also by people outside the firm who donated wool, needles, and knitted squares.

One of Philippa's favourite parts of the project was seeing people's personalities come through in their knitting, from the colours they chose to the way they opened up within the group. She also loved getting to know people in the office on a different level.

For Philippa, the project was about more than the blankets themselves. It highlighted teamwork, shared enjoyment, and the willingness of people to give their time and skills to help others.

Projects like this remind us that a strong workplace culture is built through connection, support, and shared purpose.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed. Together, we made a difference for families in our community while strengthening the connections within our own team.

That's what Putting People First looks like in action.
