We are pleased to share the wonderful news that 11-year-old D’Havland LAUPAMA, who was reported missing from Hāwera earlier today, has been FOUND!

Our thoughts and very best wishes are with D’Havland and her whānau. ❤️

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible readers who swiftly mobilised, shared our urgent appeal and helped spread the word across Waikato, Taranaki and beyond.

The speed at which our communities came together to support a missing child was truly heartwarming.

Update: She has been found.

Earlier an urgent appeal was circulating for information about D’Havland Laupama, aged 11, who was reported missing from the Koromiko Avenue area of Hāwera at approximately 4pm today, Sunday 25 October.

Popular Taranaki walk draws big crowds! 🥾⛰️

The car park at the top of Mangorei Road, the starting point for the popular Pouākai Tarns walk, is rammed today, with vehicles spilling out along the roadside and parked 1km down the road.

The walk is one of Taranaki’s best known attractions, drawing locals and visitors keen to experience the spectacular views of our maunga.

But with so many people heading up the track, is there enough parking to cope with demand?

Politicians from across New Zealand's political spectrum have been photographed meeting, greeting and engaging with gang members.

Some call it constructive engagement. Others say it gives gangs legitimacy.

But should the same standards apply to every political party, regardless of who's in government?

Now it’s a 2026 election flashpoint. Green and Te Pāti Māori representatives face criticism, Labour’s Kerrin Leoni resigned after campaigning footage emerged, and Luxon is defending National’s Tama Potaka over a public event photo, saying he wasn’t campaigning.
