We are thrilled to share that Larissa has officially been admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand!

Originally from Christchurch, Larissa moved to Dunedin to study law at the University of Otago before making the move to Nelson to begin her legal career with DMK Law.

Although Larissa grew up in Christchurch, the Tasman region has always held a special place in her heart, having spent many summer holidays with family in Tākaka. We are delighted that she has now made Nelson her home.

It has been a pleasure watching Larissa develop her skills and confidence as she takes the first steps in her legal career.

On Tuesday Larissa was admitted with Sara acting as her moving counsel. It was particularly special to have her admission ceremony in Nelson meaning our entire DMK team could attend.

Congratulations Larissa, you are a wonderful addition to the Nelson Family Bar.

We are absolutely delighted to share that Alyna has been admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand and is now beginning her new role as a Solicitor at DMK Law!

Alyna's journey has been a little different from the traditional path into law, and one DMK are particularly proud to have been part of.

After completing her law degree, Alyna took a different career path working in various roles and raising her young family before returning to her hometown of Nelson.

Six years ago Alyna joined DMK on a casual basis, helping out on reception and providing support when other team members were away. What started as a casual role gradually grew into a permanent position with Alyna taking on more responsibilities across the firm, from reception and invoicing through to becoming Stacey's Personal Assistant.

Over the years, Alyna has become an integral part of the DMK team and more recently has worked closely alongside Stacey in preparation for taking the next step in her legal career.

On Tuesday, Alyna's journey came full circle when Stacey had the honour of acting as her moving counsel for her admission with the entire DMK team there to celebrate.

Alyna, we are incredibly proud of everything you have achieved. We are so lucky to have you as part of the DMK team and we cannot wait to see you continue to grow.

More excitement at DMK! We are thrilled to introduce our new solicitor Keisha Reyes!

Keisha was born and raised in Davao City, Philippines, before moving with her family to Christchurch during her school years. She graduated from the University of Canterbury in April 2024 and was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in September.

Before beginning legal practice with DMK Keisha worked as an Employment Student Intern at the Ministry of Social Development and then as a Life and Identity Services Officer at the Department of Internal Affairs.

Keisha is 3 weeks into family law practice and just like the rest of the DMK crew we can tell already she is going to contribute so much to our clients, our team and to improving access to justice in our community.

Welcome Keisha we are so thrilled to have you as part of our DMK family!

She’s been with DMK since she was a law clerk (after we pinched her from the Family Court Registry) through to admission to the bar and she’s now on the list of counsel appointed by the Court to assist in litigation matters!

Hi everyone

As you are aware the Court has been temporarily closed for seismic strengthening and in person appearances have been taking place at the Nelson Bridge Club.

Repairs have been completed and the Court is now open and all Family Court matters are now being heard back in our Family Courtroom.
