Day 4 at Fieldays 2026

Today is all about families! 💙💚🧡

While recruitment and immigration often begin with helping employers find the right people for their farms, that’s only the start of the journey.

Many of the employees we help eventually want to bring their families to New Zealand. Through family visa pathways, children join local schools, partners find work with local businesses, and families become part of the communities they now call home-contributing, growing, and strengthening rural New Zealand where they are needed most.

For us, family reunification is one of the most rewarding parts of the immigration process. Behind every approval is a family building a future together in New Zealand.

Join us at our stand today. Bring the family, grab some treats, and discover how we can support your business or agricultural career aspirations.

It's been a big week for the team at Fieldays. Early starts, frosty cold Waikato mornings, plenty of kilometres walked, but thankfully no muddy boots this year.

We've had the privilege of catching up with farmers, growers, contractors, rural business owners, and hardworking people looking to build a future in regional New Zealand. There's something special about connecting with people from far and wide and talking about the opportunities and challenges facing our rural communities.

At The Regions, we're proud to back the people who keep New Zealand's primary industries moving. From dairy sheds and drystock farms to orchards and rural businesses, it's the people on the ground who make it all happen, and we're proud to help connect great people with great opportunities.

As we head into the final day of Fieldays, a genuine thank you to everyone who has stopped in for a yarn, shared their story, or asked for advice. It's those conversations that remind us why we do what we do.

If you're heading along tomorrow, come and say hello.

Fieldays Day 2 - Done and Dusted ✔️

One of the things we enjoy most during these four days of Fieldays is seeing the connections being made right across New Zealand.

From employers and employees stopping by 📍Site PE41 for a cold drink, a yarn, and a well-earned sit-down, to our Hamilton Head Office (where the immigration magic happens), through to the heartland of Southland where new arrivals are settling into their communities and starting their dairy farming career journey- there's a lot happening behind the scenes!

While some of us are at Mystery Creek catching up with friends, employers, and industry allies, our team across New Zealand is busy welcoming new dairy farmers, driving them to farms, helping them settle into their new communities, and supporting them as they meet their new employers. Behind every successful recruitment placement is a team of awesome humans working together to make this happen!

A huge thank you to The Regions team across the country who work together every day to make this possible.

Teamwork really does make the dream work.

If you're at Fieldays tomorrow, pop by Site PE41. We'd love to catch up, hear what's happening on your farm, and chat about how we can help you find great people for your team.

🚜 Gypsy Day 2026 🐄

One of the biggest days on the rural calendar is here.

Across New Zealand, farming families, sharemilkers, contract milkers, and farm teams are on the move, starting a new chapter for the season ahead.

If you're travelling on rural roads this weekend, please slow down, be patient, and take extra care around stock movements. Keep an eye out for muddy roads, warning signs, and cattle being moved between farms. Also be mindful around vehicles and trailers - many families may be transporting their beloved pets as part of the move. A little extra patience can go a long way in helping everyone arrive safely.

To everyone making the shift this season, we wish you safe travels, smooth transitions, and a successful start to the new dairy year.

As always, the team at The Regions got your back!

Please note our office will be closed for King’s Birthday on Monday 1 June and will reopen on Tuesday 2 June.

Wishing everyone a safe Gypsy Day and a great season ahead. 🌱

Dear Clients,

As some of you have requested, below is a short summary of what the recent English language rule changes mean for current and future visa applications: https://www.beehive.govt.nz/release/english-language-requirement-extended-aewv-skill-level-3-roles

The key change is that anyone applying to enter New Zealand in a Herd Manager role (or another ANZSCO Skill Level 3 role) will now need to complete an English language test.

In practical terms, this does not have any major impact on the dairy sector, as the required level of English for your visa remains low:

- IELTS Academic or General: Overall band score of 4.0; or
- Pearson PTE: Score of 29.

Importantly:

- If you have already passed an approved English test at this level or higher, you do not need to sit the test again.
- If you are already in New Zealand on a current visa and have never completed an English test, the new requirement will generally only apply if you renew your visa after December 1st 2026.

The broader takeaway is that English testing requirements are here to stay.

For residence pathways, English at the higher level IELTS 6.5 or Pearson 58 is needed.

From our perspective, Improving your English skills helps you build a stronger future in New Zealand both on farm and personally.

It supports career progression, helps you better understand workplace obligations and opportunities, assists with integrating into local communities, and benefits families and children through schooling and every aspect of life in New Zealand.

If you are unsure whether these changes affect your situation, please touch base and we can advise you further.

This May, we celebrated two new arrivals beginning their farming careers in New Zealand:

• Elmar, joining his four brothers-in-law with one of our valued clients in Dorie.

• Lexander, joining his four cousins with another valued client in Carew.

The Regions proudly supported and processed both journeys, including the visas for Elmar’s brothers-in-law and Lexander’s cousins already working here.

Behind every placement is more than a job opportunity, it’s families reunited, careers created, and futures transformed. Farming operations gain dedicated team members, while our new arrivals gain the chance to build meaningful lives and long-term dairy farming careers.

We’re proud to walk alongside both employers and employees through every stage of the journey and look forward to seeing Elmar and Lexander thrive in their new roles and communities.🚜

At The Regions, we’ve always believed the dairy industry is about more than farms and jobs - it’s about people building better lives, stronger businesses, and thriving rural communities.

For more than a decade, we have worked alongside NZ farmers and families, helping guide people through recruitment, immigration, and settlement pathways with the long game in mind, focused on stability, delivery, and great outcomes for everyone involved.

One of the most rewarding parts of that journey is now seeing many of the people we helped bring to New Zealand years ago progressing into leadership, contract milking, sharemilking, and farm ownership opportunities themselves. Many are now leading teams, employing staff, and contributing strongly to the future of New Zealand dairy farming.

Last week, our GM and Taranaki Account Manager were on the ground representing The Regions during season changeover across the booming Taranaki region.

Season changeover is one of the busiest periods on the calendar, with farms changing hands, staffing structures adapting, livestock on the move, and operational responsibilities transitioning ahead of the new season. With around 50 dairy farm sales across Taranaki coming into June 1, the level of activity reflects the continued confidence within the industry.

Being present during these moments is an honour for us as we keep evolving our ways to add value to the industry. We understand the realities farmers, staff, and rural communities are navigating, as we continue supporting people through change, growth, and opportunity.

At The Regions, we remain committed to helping create better futures for the people behind New Zealand’s dairy sector, doing our part to leave the industry stronger than we found it.
