We are proud to share that Jasmine Edghill has been named one of just four Rising Stars for 2026 by the Property Law Section of the New Zealand Law Society.

This recognition celebrates early-career lawyers (up to seven years' PQE) who are already making a significant impact within the profession and the property law community.

Jasmine's dedication to her clients, commitment to excellence, and contribution to the legal profession make this achievement thoroughly deserved.

Congratulations, Jasmine, on this outstanding recognition - we are incredibly proud to have you as part of the Downie Stewart team.

Outside of the office, our team are involved in a number of meaningful initiatives within the community.

One example is our partner, Gerard DeCourcy, who serves as Chair of Recovered Living NZ - an eating disorder facility based in North Canterbury that provides often life-saving support to those in need.

Gerard spoke on the radio last month, highlighting the growing demand for specialist eating disorder care, the life-changing impact of Recovered Living’s residential programme, and the ongoing challenges around funding and accessibility for families.

If you’d like to read more, you can look view the article & radio segment here: https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/590728/lifesaving-north-canterbury-eating-disorder-facility-can-t-attract-government-funding or visit Recovered Living’s Website here: https://recoveredlivingnz.com/

Recovered Living is a not-for-profit residential facility for eating disorder recovery in North Canterbury, and is the country’s only facility offering a full continuum of care for people with eating disorders.

Last week, Neil Mackenzie, football aficionado, and Chairman of FOYDAT (Football Otago Youth Development Academy Trust) presented partner Paul Buckner with a commemorative tile in recognition of his many years of service to the organisation.

The Trust received the tile from its recent participation in an u15 boys football tournament in Villareal Spain (competing for the Easter Yellow Cup).

FOYDAT plays a key role in supporting and developing young football talent across Otago, providing pathways and opportunities for players to grow and succeed in the sport. Paul is proud to have stood alongside the Trust, providing governance and legal support over many years.
