Last night, we were delighted to host the annual Owlets (student division of the women's Law Society) Speed Dating Event here at GCA.

This fantastic initiative gives students the chance to connect with female practitioners from a range of firms, backgrounds and areas of expertise, and to hear first-hand about their journeys in law. The relaxed, small-group format creates the perfect environment for open conversation and thoughtful questions.

A big thank you to for organising another successful event, and to our wonderful “dates” for sharing their time and insights: Emma Hunter-Hills and Imogen Berry Kilgour (Gallaway Cook Allan), Jeanne Snelling (University of Otago), Libby Barker (Webb Farry), and Emma Lloyd (Anderson Lloyd).

Last week we attended the Forsyth Barr Central Otago Sports Awards at the Lake Wānaka Centre. A night dedicated to celebrating sporting excellence, dedication and outstanding local talent.

Gallaway Cook Allan has been a long standing category sponsor of these awards, and this year we were honoured to sponsor both the Junior Sportswoman of the Year and Junior Sportsman of the Year category awards.

Congratulations to Gallaway Cook Allan Junior Sportswoman of the Year, Indy Deavoll, for Downhill Mountain Biking. Indy’s achievements are nothing short of remarkable, placing first in the 2026 New Zealand Downhill Series, securing multiple U19 wins across New Zealand and Australia, claiming the Continental Championship title, and finishing third in the elite category in Whistler, Canada. An incredible accomplishment, Indy, congratulations to you and all the finalists in this category.

Congratulations also to Gallaway Cook Allan Junior Sportsman of the Year, Luke Harrold, for Freeski Halfpipe. Luke was selected to represent New Zealand at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, held earlier this year. Throughout the season he demonstrated exceptional consistency, leadership, and inspiring performances, setting the benchmark both nationally and internationally. Congratulations on receiving this well deserved award once again Luke, and to all finalists in the category.

Recognising and celebrating our local athletes is incredibly important to us. The Central Otago sporting community is rich with talent across a wide range of sports, made possible through the dedication of Sport Central, coaches, managers, families, and supporters. We are proud to be part of such an inspiring and growing sporting community that continues to motivate future generations to embrace and love sport.

On Saturday, our team proudly took part in the Dunedin Relay For Life at Forsyth Barr Stadium 💜

The target set for Dunedin was $200,000 which was reached half way through the event! The total now stands at an amazing $256,874, a testament to the generosity and spirit of our community.

We’re proud to share that Gallaway Cook Allan raised $2,220 toward this total.

Our staff led Sustainability and Community group led a bake sale, thrift shop, and Vogel Street clean-up to help raise funds, while our Wellbeing Committee kept the team energised all day with a tent stocked full of drinks and snacks!

There’s still time to donate if you’re able to help:
