Last week we attended the Forsyth Barr Central Otago Sports Awards at the Lake Wānaka Centre. A night dedicated to celebrating sporting excellence, dedication and outstanding local talent.
Gallaway Cook Allan has been a long standing category sponsor of these awards, and this year we were honoured to sponsor both the Junior Sportswoman of the Year and Junior Sportsman of the Year category awards.
Congratulations to Gallaway Cook Allan Junior Sportswoman of the Year, Indy Deavoll, for Downhill Mountain Biking. Indy’s achievements are nothing short of remarkable, placing first in the 2026 New Zealand Downhill Series, securing multiple U19 wins across New Zealand and Australia, claiming the Continental Championship title, and finishing third in the elite category in Whistler, Canada. An incredible accomplishment, Indy, congratulations to you and all the finalists in this category.
Congratulations also to Gallaway Cook Allan Junior Sportsman of the Year, Luke Harrold, for Freeski Halfpipe. Luke was selected to represent New Zealand at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, held earlier this year. Throughout the season he demonstrated exceptional consistency, leadership, and inspiring performances, setting the benchmark both nationally and internationally. Congratulations on receiving this well deserved award once again Luke, and to all finalists in the category.
Recognising and celebrating our local athletes is incredibly important to us. The Central Otago sporting community is rich with talent across a wide range of sports, made possible through the dedication of Sport Central, coaches, managers, families, and supporters. We are proud to be part of such an inspiring and growing sporting community that continues to motivate future generations to embrace and love sport.
