It’s ok not to be ok.

Just like physical health problems, mental health problems are also very common. Our mental health will change throughout our lives and will be influenced by many factors.

According to Wellplace.nz nearly half the population will meet the criteria for a mental illness diagnosis at some stage during their lives, and one in five of us will experience depression in any given year.

This Sunday is .

Sometimes we need a little reminder that we are not alone. We encourage you to take a moment to check in on your colleagues, friends, and family. It’s important to recognise that mental health is different for everyone and that is ok.

Here at Race Douglas Burke we are always trying to promote mentally healthy behaviours and would like to share Wellplace.nz’s “Five Ways To Wellbeing” which are simple actions that workplaces can introduce to promote a mentally healthy culture, strengthen relationship and boost mental wellbeing.

The Five Ways to Wellbeing are:
• Give
• Be Active
• Keep Learning
• Connect
• Take Notice.

Stay safe and look out for each other.

The National Environmental Standards for Freshwater Regulations 2020 came into force on 3 September 2020.

The standards are designed to protect existing inland and coastal wetlands, improve poor practice intensive water grazing of forage crops, restrict further agricultural intensification and limit the discharge of synthetic nitrogen fertiliser to land and require reporting of fertiliser use.

From 1 July 2021, a resource consent will be required if the amount of nitrogen fertiliser applied per hectare succeeds 190kg on any one hectare. A resource consent is not required if the farm has previously been used for intensive winter grazing between 2014-2019 and you are not seeking to expand the area.

Farmers should be aware that Regional councils are putting in additional rules and setting timeframes.

Please get in touch if you would like to know more about how these regulations will affect your farming practices.

If you would like to know more about the changes and how it may affect you, please do not hesitate to contact us on (03) 477 3947.

There have been substantial changes in trust law brought about by the new Trusts Act 2019. The Trusts Act came in to force on 30 January 2021. The changes will have direct impact on existing and future trusts and will affect the obligations of those in roles of settlors, trustees and beneficiaries.

Circumstances can change over the lifetime of a trust and now is a great time to remind yourself of the purpose of the trust and consider whether it is fulfilling its purpose. It is important to ensure that the trust is well administered.

We would be happy to discuss these changes with you to ensure you meet your obligations and to ensure your trust fits your current circumstances.

We look forward to hearing from you if we can be of assistance.
