Have you thought about what would happen to your pet if something happened to you? 🐾
For a lot of us, pets are family. But without a plan in place, it may not be clear who would step in to care for them, or how that care should look.
A Will can help by setting out who you trust to take them in, naming a backup caregiver, and making financial provision for things like food, vet bills, insurance and everyday costs.
You can also prepare a Statement of Wishes covering the little, and big, things a new caregiver would need to know, from routines and medication to favourite treats, quirks and other care needs.
It’s also worth reviewing these arrangements when things change, whether that’s a new pet, a different caregiver or a change in circumstances.
Without a plan, these decisions can be left to family or an executor to work through at an already difficult time.
Putting clear arrangements in place can give you peace of mind knowing your pet will be cared for in the way you would want.
If you’d like help putting a plan in place for your pet, our team can assist with preparing or updating your Will and Statement of Wishes.
