Skilled Migrant Category Changes!

The Expression of Interest (EOI) has now been updated to allow for situations where applicants cannot claim points for a recognised qualification or meet English language requirements due to the delay in NZQA international qualification assessments and English tests. Applicants may not be able to receive their assessment or sit their English test before the first EOI selection on 9 November 2022.
Applicants can now make a declaration to allow these requirements to be met after the EOI selection. Applicants making this declaration will need to show that they have booked an acceptable English Language test and requested a NZQA international qualification assessment.

Immigration New Zealand announce changes to the median wage threshold.

On 27 February 2023 the median wage will increase to $29.66 per hour. This means workers applying for the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) on or after 27 February 2023 must be paid at least $29.66 per hour, unless the role is listed on the median wage exemption list.

Changes to the median wage exemption are also on the horizon. In April 2023 Immigration are increasing the median wage exemption to $28.18 per hour for workers in the hospitality and tourism industry. This wage exemption will stay in place until the end of March 2024.

Contact us today at [email protected] for more information.

The new median wage of NZD $29.66 an hour will be adopted into the immigration system on 27 February 2023.
