Beware of New Zealand Visa Scams! 🚨

Immigrating to New Zealand is an exciting opportunity, but unfortunately, scammers target vulnerable individuals seeking visas. Don't fall victim to these deceptive schemes!

Here’s what to watch out for:

1️⃣ Unreasonable fees: Scammers may ask for excessive fees for securing a job or visa.
2️⃣ False promises of fast processing: Be cautious of anyone guaranteeing priority access to immigration officers.
3️⃣ Deceptive tactics: If you’re asked to lie on your visa application or make promises that seem too good to be true, be wary!
4️⃣ Unauthorised advisers: Make sure any adviser you use is licensed or a certified NZ lawyer. It’s your right to check!

Protect yourself and your future in New Zealand by learning how to spot the signs of a scam. 💼🔍

12/11/2024

As of 1 October 2024, the maximum duration for work and visitor visas for partners of New Zealand citizens or residence class visa holders has increased from 2 years to 3 years.

This applies to couples who have been living together for at least 12 months and provides extra time for partners to plan and save for residence application fees. It also aligns with the durations offered to partners of temporary migrants.

Here’s the key points:
→ Applications submitted from 1 October 2024 are eligible for the extended duration.
→ Applications that were in progress (but not yet decided) on that date are also eligible.
→ Current visas won’t be automatically extended – a new application is required.

This change is part of the Government’s initiative to build a world-class immigration system that supports couples and helps grow New Zealand’s economy.

Did you know that almost half of adults in New Zealand have a will in place? If you’re not among them yet, now’s the time to take action. 📝

Why? Having a will ensures your wishes are honoured and your assets are distributed according to your preferences, relieving your loved ones from added stress and uncertainty. Even if you think your situation is simple, a will ensures your wishes are fulfilled exactly as you intend. Without one, the law decides how your estate is divided—often in ways you might not expect.

Crafting a will is a quick process but offers lasting peace of mind for those you care about. Secure your legacy and provide clarity for your family by preparing your will today.

Are you a shift worker or on-call this Labour Day? Understand your rights and the responsibilities of your employer. Here’s what you need to know:

🔑 Shift Workers:

→ A public holiday runs from midnight to midnight. If your shift falls across both a public holiday and a regular day, you’re entitled to time and a half for the hours worked on the public holiday.
→ You’ll also get an alternative holiday (if it’s a day you’d usually work).

📞 On-Call Staff:

→ If you’re called out: You must be paid time and a half for the time worked AND get an alternative holiday.
→ If you’re on-call but not called out: You’re entitled to your daily pay for the public holiday.
→ If you’re on-call and have to limit your activities (e.g., stay home), but not called out, you still get an alternative holiday.

Make sure you know your rights this Labour Day! Keep track of your hours, know the rules, and enjoy your holiday if you're off.
