💼 Understanding the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV)

The AEWV is one of the main ways skilled migrants can work in New Zealand. It allows eligible applicants to work for a New Zealand employer that has been approved to hire migrant workers.

To qualify, you’ll generally need a job offer from an accredited employer, the relevant skills or experience for the position and to meet New Zealand’s health, character and visa requirements.

Depending on the role and your circumstances, an AEWV can allow you to work in New Zealand for up to five years and may also form part of a longer-term pathway towards residence.

If you’re considering working in New Zealand, understanding the AEWV is an important place to start.

📢 Group and Tour Es**rt Visitor Visa Applications Have Moved Online

As of 24 August 2026, several New Zealand visitor visa types have moved to Immigration New Zealand’s enhanced Immigration Online system. This includes Group Visitor Visas, Tour Es**rt Visitor Visas and ADS Free and Independent Traveller applications.

Already submitted an application using the old form? It will still be processed as normal. However, anyone with a draft application has until 7 October 2026 to submit it. Remaining drafts will be deleted on 8 October and applicants will need to start again using the new form.

The move is part of Immigration New Zealand’s wider transition towards a simpler and more user-friendly online visa application process.

🇳🇿 Major Changes Are Coming to Annual and Sick Leave in New Zealand

New Zealand Parliament has passed the Employment Leave Bill, paving the way for a major overhaul of how workplace leave is calculated.

Under the new system, annual and sick leave will accrue in hours based on contracted hours worked, with employees able to access leave from their first day. Other changes include a 12.5% Leave Compensation Payment for additional and casual hours, greater flexibility around cashing up annual leave and new rules for employees returning from parental leave.

Businesses and payroll providers will have a 24-month lead-in period to prepare for the new system.

With both of their sons already living in New Zealand, Nick and his wife decided it was time to make the move themselves after years of travelling back and forth to visit family.

They approached Migration Associates for help with their Parent Category Visa, with Borey Chum guiding them through the process and helping resolve health queries raised by Immigration New Zealand.

Now settled in Waikanae, along with their two dogs, they’re enjoying being closer to their sons and have found New Zealand to be every bit as welcoming, relaxed and friendly as they had hoped.

Standing 328 metres above downtown Auckland, the Sky Tower is one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks, and the tallest freestanding structure in the Southern Hemisphere.

Head up to the observation decks for panoramic views across Auckland Harbour, Rangitoto Island and the city’s volcanic landscape, or test your nerve on the glass floor panels. For something more adventurous, there’s also the SkyWalk and SkyJump.
