Some of you may know that we are advertising for a Junior Lawyer and I thought that I would put a post here about it but didn't know what to say. I've been hearing about ChatCPT so I thought I would see what it could do. This is what it came up with:

I asked it to include a joke. I'm not sure how well it did but it tells me that lawyers aren't known for their sense of humour so what would I know. The reference to birds is a bit spooky given that birds have become a feature in our office décor but maybe I'm just paranoid about AI.

Red Traffic Light Settings

With the country now at the Traffic light setting Red the following applies if you are visiting our office:

1. You can still make an appointment for a face to face meeting with us.
2. Face masks are required.
3. We will be working from home where we can so please make an appointment or contact us prior to coming to the office to check that the person you want to see is available.
4. A lot of the work we do can be dealt with by phone or video call so if you don't want to come to the office please let us know and we can discuss alternate options with you.
5. As always please don't come to the office if you have COVID like symptoms, are awaiting the results of a test or have reason to believe you have been exposed to COVID in the last 14 days.

Overseas experience shows that Omicron moves quickly so we may need to alter our protocols to react to what is happening in the community. We will let you know if we do.

COVID Vaccine Pass Not required at Tim Holton Law

We do NOT require you to be vaccinated to come to our office.

After careful consideration of current information and discussion with staff we have decided not to require visitors to our office to be vaccinated or use the my vaccine pass. This decision has been made with the consensus of all staff and takes into account the following:
1. We are not required to impose a vaccine mandate on staff or visitors under any of the traffic light settings.
2. All staff and I are fully vaccinated. This has been a decision made by each of us individually based on the evidence available.
3. We have a strong belief in access to justice and breaking down barriers to that. Many of our clients come to us requiring urgent assistance for protection from violence or to keep their children safe. There are already many barriers to those clients seeking help and we believe putting an additional barrier in place without a clear basis for doing so would be unconscionable.
4. While in some cases we are able to use alternative means (such as Video call or phone calls) not all of our clients have access to that technology and it is not the same as meeting face to face particularly when discussing sensitive matters.
5. We believe that the genuine risks associated with COVID 19 can be managed in other ways including cleaning surfaces and social distancing. We are also able to manage the number of people coming to the office at any time.
6. We believe that there is as much if not more risk to our staff in interactions outside the office such as at court. It therefore doesn’t make sense to restrict access to our office.

We ask that you respect us by not coming to the office if you have reason to believe you have been exposed to COVID 19, are awaiting a COVID test or have cold or flu like symptoms.

We reserve the right to change our policy if our assessment of the risks to staff and clients changes.
