New Zealand Visa Update

Immigration New Zealand has announced that from 1 October 2026, paper applications will no longer be accepted for 24 Visitor Visa categories and the Transit Visa, except in exceptional circumstances.

This affects several common visitor pathways, including the General Visitor Visa, Business Visitor Visa, Group Visitor Visa, Guardian Visitor Visa, Parent and Grandparent Visitor Visa, Medical Treatment Visitor Visa and Tour Es**rt Visitor Visa.

If a paper application is submitted before 1 October 2026, Immigration New Zealand says it will continue to be processed. After that date, most affected applicants will need to use Enhanced Immigration Online.

This is mainly a process change. It does not mean visa-waiver travellers suddenly need a Visitor Visa. If you currently travel with an NZeTA, continue to check the requirements that apply to your passport and travel plans.
