General elections are coming up in a few months. Here's some key things to note about voting for homeless people and those without a permanent address.

You can:
- enrol at the address where you spend a substantial part of your time, or
- enrol at the last residential address where you lived for at least 1 month, even if that was some time ago.

When you enrol to vote, you’ll need to provide a postal address where electoral mail can be sent. This can be:
- a PO box, or
- the address of a family member or friend who agrees to hold your mail to collect, or
- a church, support group, or service you go to (e.g. Wellington City Mission or DCM), who agrees to hold your mail to collect.

IMPORTANT: You need to enrol by midnight Sunday 25 October 2026. You won’t be able to enrol once voting starts this year. Voting is open from 26 October to 7 November 2026.

Last week two members of our Kaupapa Māori Services team travelled North to the mighty Waikato to meet with other kaimahi from 13 other Community Law Centre's Kaupapa Māori service teams.
They were privileged to take part in a moving history lesson starting at the Auckland Airport and finishing at Taupiri Marae in Waikato. A busy and rewarding 24 hours for all involved filling them with inspiration and even more determination to improve access to justice for Māori.

Last Friday we said haere rā to our incredible manager Stephanie Moses, who has retired from Community Law Marlborough, after an amazing 27 years of dedicated service.

Your unwavering commitment, compassion, and leadership have made a lasting impact on not only our organisation but also the countless people and community organisations you've supported over the years. You have inspired us with your kindness, integrity, and tireless dedication to ensuring access to justice for those who need it most.

Thank you for the guidance, encouragement, and wisdom you've shared with each of us. Your presence has shaped our workplace into one built on respect, teamwork, and genuine care for others. Each of us will ask WWSD (what would Steph do?) for many years to come 🤣
While it's hard to imagine Community Law without you, your legacy will continue to inspire us every day.

Congratulations on your well-earned retirement. We wish you every happiness in this next chapter of your life. May it be filled with good health, new adventures, cherished moments with whānau and friends, and all the joy you so greatly deserve 🥰
