When it comes to partnership visas, the dates on your evidence now matter more than ever.

Both partners must now be at least 18 when applying for a dedicated partnership visa, and only relationship evidence from after both people turned 18 can be considered.

That means the change could affect not only when you’re eligible to apply, but also which evidence can be used to support your application.

The Skilled Migrant Category has changed, and for some people, that could mean a new pathway to residence in New Zealand.

The Parent Resident Visa selection process has changed.

Most expressions of interest are now being selected in the order they were submitted, rather than through the previous ballot system. Existing expressions of interest have automatically moved into the new system.

With the first selection under the new model scheduled for 10 November, now is a good time to make sure your family’s submission is in order.

Summer plans in New Zealand? Your visa shouldn’t be an afterthought.

Summer is one of Immigration New Zealand’s busiest processing periods, with more people applying to visit, study and spend time with family over the warmer months.

If you’re hoping to arrive around Christmas or New Year, now is the time to get organised. And for those planning to study in New Zealand in early 2027, INZ recommends applying at least three months ahead.

Processing times can vary, and an incomplete application can create further delays, so preparing early matters.

Moving investment funds to New Zealand might sound straightforward, but for investor and retirement visa applicants, how those funds are transferred matters.

Immigration New Zealand needs to be able to clearly trace where the funds came from, how they were transferred and that they are the same funds nominated in the visa application. There are also specific timeframes and requirements to work within.

For AIP, Parent Retirement and Temporary Retirement applicants, it pays to have a clear transfer plan before the money moves.

The Peak Seasonal Work Visa may be designed around seasonal employment, but calculating maximum continuous stay isn’t always as simple as counting the months spent working in New Zealand.
