Major Update: NZ Post-Study Work Visa Rules (Effective Nov 2026)
Thinking about your study-to-residency pathway? Immigration New Zealand has announced significant changes to the Post-Study Work Visa (PSWV) rules taking effect this November 2026.
We sat down with our newest Licensed Immigration Advisor, Shreya, to break down what this means for your future in NZ.
The Key Changes:
1. Level 5, 6, & 7 Diploma Courses:
The Rule: You will be eligible for a 6-month Open Post-Study Work Visa.
Important: This is a "once-only" opportunity. You cannot claim a second PSWV by completing another diploma.
Family: You cannot support your family on this specific visa.
2. The Graduate Diploma Advantage:
The Rule: If you hold a Bachelor's degree and complete a Graduate Diploma, you remain eligible for a 1-year Post-Study Work Visa.
Family: You CAN support your family on this permit.
Fields: We have excellent options in IT, Business, and Hospitality.
Donβt Get Caught Out by New Rules.
