Wist je dat je in Australië meestal geen traditionele rijlessen volgt zoals in Nederland? In deze video legt Indy uit hoe het werkt!

Om je rijbewijs te halen, begin je met een theoriecursus. Zodra je die hebt gehaald, krijg je een learner licence en mag je onder begeleiding van je ouders of een ervaren bestuurder de weg op.

Vervolgens moet je maar liefst 120 uur rijervaring opbouwen, die je bijhoudt in de app MyLearners. 📱✅

Pas wanneer je 18 jaar bent én voldoende rijuren hebt gemaakt, mag je praktijkexamen doen. Best anders dan in Nederland, toch?

Did you know that in Australia, you usually don’t take traditional driving lessons like you would in the Netherlands? In this video, Indy explains how it works!

To get started, you first complete a theory course. Once you’ve passed, you receive a learner licence and can start driving under the supervision of your parents or another experienced driver.

You then need to complete 120 hours of driving practice, which can be tracked using the MyLearners app. 📱✅

Once you’re 18 years old and have completed the required driving hours, you’re eligible to take your practical driving test. Quite different from the Dutch system, right?

With many years of experience and a passion for helping people start a new adventure abroad, Fiona is a familiar face within the Visa4you team.

Fiona first joined Visa4you in 2008, helping clients with Canadian visa applications. After spending three years living abroad herself, she returned to Visa4you in 2023 and now supports clients with both Australian visas and Canada's IEC program.

What Fiona enjoys most about her work? The personal contact. Having experienced life abroad herself, she understands how important clear guidance and support are throughout the entire visa journey.

When she's not helping clients, you'll find her travelling, playing pickleball, teaching line dancing, or renovating an old farmhouse together with her partner.

The first Working Holiday Visa will remain available, but applicants should expect longer processing times, with the Australian Government aiming to stabilise processing at up to 3 months.

Another significant change is the introduction of a ballot system for second and third-year Working Holiday visas. Meeting the regional work requirements may no longer automatically guarantee an extension.

At this stage, not all details have been released and no implementation date has been announced yet.

De tijd vliegt! Familie Freriksen zit alweer bijna een maand in Australië en inmiddels begint het leven Down Under steeds meer als thuis te voelen.

De afgelopen weken stonden in het teken van settelen, nieuwe routines ontdekken en natuurlijk genieten van alles wat Australië te bieden heeft. De jongens hebben zich inmiddels aangesloten bij een lokale voetbalclub en er wordt volop gesurft op de Australische golven.

Maar stilzitten doen ze zeker niet! Vandaag vertrekken ze voor een rondreis van twee weken naar Alice Springs, waar ze Australië verder gaan ontdekken met de camper en volop gaan genieten van het buitenleven. 🚐🏕️✨

Voor nu genieten ze nog even van zon, zee en surfen.

Time flies! The Freriksen family has now been in Australia for almost a month, and life Down Under is starting to feel more and more like home.

The past few weeks have been all about settling in, discovering new routines, and of course enjoying everything Australia has to offer. The boys have joined a local football club and everyone has been making the most of the Australian waves by spending plenty of time surfing.

But they’re certainly not slowing down! Today, they are setting off on a two-week road trip to Alice Springs, where they’ll explore even more of Australia by camper and enjoy everything the Australian outback has to offer. 🚐🏕️✨

For now, they’re enjoying the sun, the sea, and lots of surfing.
