Arrived this morning: my contribution to the Festschrift to celebrate 40 years of the Austrian private international law code, titled (in English) “Technology, societal change and international private law connecting factors in the area of FinTech”.

I argue that current societal changes, including those that are already the result of the pandemic, as well as rapid technological developments, will require adjustments to a range of connecting factors. I also argue that there is opportunity for a collaboration between the Hague Conference on Private International Law - HCCH, the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law - UNCITRAL and the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law - UNIDROIT in this regard.

We are delighted that our Partner Thomas John ACIArb could contribute to this important publication celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Austrian Private International Law Act. Today, our partner Thomas John ACIArb will give the Introductory Lecture to this year's students of international commercial law at the Southern Asian University. Grotius Chambers' Partner Thomas John Aciarb will co-lecture with Nadia de Araujo at Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). The topic of the lecture is in times of . Thomas will focus on the cooperation mechanisms of the 1965 and the 1970 HCCH Convention, both in relation to cross-border and , as well as how may better support those mechanisms.
