en algemeen toegenomen milieubewustzijn brengen de Belgische baggeraar Jan De Nul Group ertoe om haar nieuwste generatie baggerschepen te voorzien van dieselmotoren met uitlaatgasbehandelingssystemen.Elke dieselmotor aan boord is uitgerust met een katalytische filter en een diesel partikel filter die de uitlaatgassen in twee fasen filteren. "Met de katalytische filter halen we de Stage V-norm op het vlak van stikstofdioxide al, strenger dan de Tier II en Tier III-normen waar we 30% lager zitten. Met de diesel partikel filter halen we tot 99% van het aantal stofdeeltjes uit de uitlaatgassen", zei Michel Deruyck tijdens zijn zeer informatieve presentatie voor de leden van . Het gaat om een -gecertificeerd filtersysteem.

De Award

De KNVTS heeft in 1998 ter gelegenheid van haar 100-jarig bestaan de ‘Maritime Award KNVTS Schip van het Jaar’ ingesteld om de technische innovaties in de Nederlandse scheepsbouw te belichten. Deze prestigieuze prijs wordt ieder jaar tijdens het Maritime Awards Gala uitgereikt aan een bedrijf – of consortium van bedrijven – uit de Nederlandse maritieme industrie, dat verantwoordelijk is geweest voor de ontwikkeling en realisatie van het door de jury geselecteerde ‘Schip van het Jaar’.
Met ca. 1000 professionals uit de gehele maritieme sector is het gala een mooie gelegenheid om relaties uit de branche op informele wijze, maar in een mooie setting te ontmoeten. Als voorzitter van de roep ik u gaarne op dit mooie evenement te bezoeken!

The success of Project Innovation, a development and trials programme, has led to Loodswezen commissioning Camarc to design their new series high speed pilot tenders. The new design builds upon the existing fleet of proven Camarc boats for Loodswezen and features the new refined hull for improved fuel efficiency and comfort. The first vessel is currently under construction at Next Generation Shipyards in the Netherlands.

Today the Netherlands ratified the Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships, 2009 (the Hong Kong Convention).The Convention is open for accession by any State. At present IMO has 172 member States and the number of ratifications of this Convention stands at 8.
It will enter into force 24 months after the date on which 15 States, representing 40 per cent of world merchant shipping by gross tonnage, have either signed it without reservation as to ratification, acceptance or approval or have deposited instruments of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession with the Secretary-General. Furthermore, the combined maximum annual ship recycling volume of those States must, during the preceding 10 years, constitute not less than 3 per cent of their combined merchant shipping tonnage. Upon entry into force of the Hong Kong Convention, ships to be sent for recycling will be required to carry an inventory of hazardous materials, which will be specific to each ship. An appendix to the Convention provides a list of hazardous materials the installation or use of which is prohibited or restricted in shipyards, ship repair yards, and ships of Parties to the Convention. Ships will be required to have an initial survey to verify the inventory of hazardous materials, additional surveys during the life of the ship, and a final survey prior to recycling.
