I’m pleased to have returned to support the business again as interim legal counsel.

Yesterday was my last day at EBS Public Transportation.

The past six months have been intense and dynamic. During that time, I helped build and structure an in-house legal function, putting in place templates, processes and a governance framework, while supporting the business across a wide range of matters. I also established and fulfilled the role of company secretary, including responsibility for board meetings, agendas, minutes and corporate compliance.

I very much enjoyed getting to know the public transport sector, including tenders and concession structures and agreements — a new chapter in my legal career, and one of the reasons I value interim work: the opportunity to continuously broaden and deepen my experience.

Many thanks to everyone I had the pleasure of working with.

Table Mountain, Cape Town - the annual post.

Every year when I’m back home in South Africa, I take more or less the same photo. Or actually, quite a few of them. Same mountain. Different temperature, wind, light - and a different year.

I post it because it’s beautiful. And because I genuinely love being back here for a few weeks.

A bit of distance, a change of scenery, warmth and sea air - and then back to the Netherlands, back to contracts, negotiations and helping businesses move forward.

Het nieuwe betekent een duidelijke koerswijziging voor ’ers. De omstreden wordt niet volledig ingevoerd; in plaats daarvan komt er een aparte . Daarmee krijgt de zelfstandige ondernemer voor het eerst een eigen wettelijke basis.

Volgens Vereniging ZZP Nederland zorgt dit voor meer rust, duidelijkheid en een beter onderscheid tussen echte ondernemers en . Een interessante ontwikkeling voor zzp’ers én opdrachtgevers.

Het coalitieakkoord dat vrijdag is gepresenteerd, laat een duidelijke koerswijziging zien voor zelfstandig ondernemers. De omstreden VBAR wordt niet volledig ingevoerd. Zzp’ers en opdrachtgevers krijgen ook in 2026 nog geen verzuimboetes bij . Het kabinet heeft besloten de zogenoemde zachte landing ook in 2026 te verlengen. De Belastingdienst blijft wel handhaven, maar zet eerst lichtere middelen in.

Er komt geen verlenging van de zachte landing bij handhaving van na 2025. Een verlenging van de zachte landing is volgens het kabinet niet wenselijk, want dat zou betekenen dat de afgesproken verbetering op de handhaving van schijnzelfstandigheid niet wordt gerealiseerd.
