Being a student-led project, Explorer Mock Trial is not a competition, neither is limited by the common format of mock trial. Our team, along with the professionals from Maastricht university, have worked out a unique procedure for this trial. The trial, based upon a real life situation, is about six cave explorers trapped in a cave. In order to stay alive they end up eating one of their partners.

It highlights many ethical dilemmas.It touches on topics such as utilitarianism, social contract, natural law, ownership of life, amongst which the most essential one is: is eating a person ever justified? With certain change of the original case -- the case of Speluncean Explorer, we also include the discussion of the constitutionality of death penalty, which is the creative part of our mock trial.
