FINSTAS is a study association of Leiden University, founded for students of the master's programmes

It is time for the new FINSTAS Board to succeed the current Board and continue pursuing the association's goals. We are looking for the new 2022/2023 Board!

Would to like to further your academic career by organising activities with and for students with a keen interest in financial law? Are you interested in expanding your network by approaching legal professionals and inviting them to join FINSTAS events? Are a master's student in 'Financieel Recht', an advanced master's student in 'Law & Finance', or a final year bachelor's student with a keen interest in financial law? You are invited to apply for one of the following Board positions:
- President
- Vice - President
- Treasurer
- Head of Career & Acquisition

EXCITING NEWS! The "EU Bank Resolution Regime" online event

We’re excited to announce that coming Tuesday, March 15, Mrs. Nikoletta Kleftouri – Financial Sector Expert at the International Monetary Fund will present the “EU Bank Resolution Regime” event!

Apart from this, Mrs. Kleftouri will give us her insight and share her experience on how to land a legal job in financial institutions!

Mrs. Kleftouri has an outstanding professional experience in bank resolution and crisis management (IMF, Deloitte, EBA, UK Prudential Regulation Authority, Bank of England). She is also a Visiting Lecturer at UCL and the International Hellenic University. She provides guests seminars at the Cambridge Judge Business School and the Academy of European Law ERA and has authored a number of articles in leading international financial law journals and the first book to provide a comparative approach covering deposit protection and bank resolution regimes in the UK, EU and the US (publisher: Oxford University Press).

We are excited to announce that Mr. Peggy Bracco Gartner will present "the new Dutch Pension System" this coming Monday (7 March)!

The Dutch pension system will undergo major reforms in the coming years to make the system ‘futureproof’. Ms. Peggy Bracco Gartner will explain what this change entails, how the Dutch pension system compares internationally and why she believes that pensions will increasingly be treated as financial products.

Meet our Board!

Dion Latten │ Vice-President

Dion is a Financial Law master's student who is now the Vice-President of FINSTAS. He was a board member of the Law Faculty in Leiden in the last years. For two years, he was responsible for all student affairs in the faculty and representing students within the faculty board. Dion also worked as an intern at BMW NL and he is currently working as an intern at Norton Rose Fulbright in Amsterdam.

VBK has a Banking & Finance team since 2009 and has been ranked in the The Legal 500 for a few years now. The team - consisting of 6 specialists - has a wide experience in the advisory, transactional and litigation practice. The work of the team relates to the three aspects ('pillars'):
- Financial litigation (litigation for financial institutions);
- Financing (transactional work and drafting financing agreements);
- Regulatory [FSA (Wft) and Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Prevention) Act (Wwft)]

VBK advises and represents a wide variety of national and international (financial) organisations.
