For our clients and business partners, it is highly valuable to understand how AI is transforming the workplace and how the expectations, motivations, and working styles of younger generations are shaping modern business environments. These developments create both significant opportunities and new challenges for employers.

This topic is relevant not only for Dutch entrepreneurs operating in Turkey, but also for employers in the Netherlands. As an increasing number of highly educated young professionals enter the Dutch labour market, organisations must adapt their leadership approaches, communication methods, and talent management strategies to meet the expectations of the next generation.

Particularly interesting was the discussion about the challenges and opportunities arising from the interaction between younger and older generations in the workplace. While younger employees often bring digital fluency, innovation, and a preference for flexibility, more experienced professionals contribute valuable expertise, institutional knowledge, and long-term perspective. Bridging these generational differences and fostering effective collaboration between generations is becoming an increasingly important task for modern organisations.

The discussion on the relationship between AI and the emerging workforce provided valuable insights. While technology continues to transform the way we work, understanding the values, expectations, and aspirations of younger generations—while at the same time leveraging the experience and wisdom of older generations—will be essential for building successful and future-proof organisations.

Ook vandaag is een bijzondere dag. Vanavond mag ik aanwezig zijn in Amsterdam op de receptie “invest in Türkiye, 20 years of excellence”. Ook zal ik vergezeld worden door enkele van onze cliënten. Stuk voor stuk creatieve ondernemers met uiteenlopende activiteiten en inspirerende verhalen. Mooi om een verbindende factor te zijn. Het oprichten van een bedrijf is zoveel meer dan het papierwerk: ik ben altijd vooral benieuwd naar het verhaal erachter.

Turkije verandert rap. Nederland is al jaren de grootste buitenlandse investeerder in Turkije terwijl Nederland voor Turkije een van de grootste exportgebieden is. Inmiddels zien we daarnaast ook een groeiende stroom kennismigranten die zich hier vestigen. “Turks in Tech” is inmiddels een begrip geworden en onderdeel van een bredere ontwikkeling.

De lat ligt hoog: Nexus of the World ofwel het knooppunt van de wereld, dat is wat Turkije voor ogen heeft. Vanavond hoor ik er meer over. Nu dat ik meer dan de helft van mijn leven dit land zakelijk promoot, zowel als ondernemer in het onroerend goed als vanuit Sepers c.s. als juridisch adviseur ben ik benieuwd welke nieuwe paden er geplaveid zijn, mocht ik ze nog niet allemaal in kaart hebben.

De potentie is groot en in Turkije kan soms alles. Ook dingen die je eerder niet voor mogelijk hebt gehouden. Juist daar ligt onze kracht: het wijzen op mogelijkheden en het verbinden. In combinatie met gezond Hollands verstand en strak juridisch advies.

Over verbinden gesproken... Mijn zakenpartner Mert Himmetoğlu en zijn echtgenote zijn 20 jaar geleden op deze dag getrouwd: een porseleinen huwelijk. Gefeliciteerd! Destijds waren mijn vader en moeder hun getuigen. Hoewel mijn vader in juni 2019 is overleden, voelt het soms voor ons alsof hij nog altijd meekijkt. Het maakt deze dag extra bijzonder: voor Mert een persoonlijk feestmoment, voor mij een avond vol inspiratie in Amsterdam.

Dank je wel pap, dat je mij de liefde voor Turkije al vanaf de wieg hebt meegegeven en dat je voor zovelen een verschil hebt gemaakt. In Memoriam - Henk Sepers

Sepers c.s. was invited to a great event: the start of the Turkish Dutch Business Platform. It took place in the H'ART Museum of Amsterdam. Big expectations and great speeches, we listened, laughed, shared drinks and thoughts. We (re)connected.

TDBP: an innovation powerhouse.

This platform is not an association. It is business led and inclusive. What you do makes a difference and I was proud to be invited.

As a Turcologist and legal advisor, totally and solely specialized in exactly this subject, guiding companies towards the Netherlands ánd Turkey, I was excited to be among peers “while shaping the future of Turkish-Dutch business relations”, as was stated in the invitation. My personal interest lies in solving the challenges of the SME’s who are bold enough to explore both countries.

The evening entered my heart instantly when I was welcomed by the professional team of the organisation of the event. The first new face to me was a very kind lady with sparkling energy. Together with appr. 400 participants, we saw an inspiring movie of the trade and business relations between Turkey and the Netherlands. The moderator Semra Çelebi did a great job and touched us by sharing her personal memories.

The hilarious yet well chosen words and information we received from the distinguished ambassador of Turkey mrs. Fatma Ceren Yazgan based in The Hague “Gölge yapmayalım yeter” (“as long as we do not obstruct, that will suffice”) made me think about my own cultural background.

It felt as if we are at the start of a new era. Great to witness this step.
