I visited someone yesterday.

They offered me bread and tea. But that bread? It tasted like the ones we used to buy from the corner shop after school. Soft. Warm. Slightly burnt at the edges.

Some months ago, a guy buzzed me.
He was planning a surprise weekend for his babe.

“Bro, I need something sweet, but not too expensive,” he said.
We went through pictures, prices, locations.
He settled for a clean spot — decent, AC sharp, Netflix ready — but not one of those flashy, marble-top types.

“Just don’t let her know I had options,” he joked. 😅

Saturday evening came…
He checked in early, set up scented candles, even bought her favourite snacks.
By 8PM, they were already posting snaps and boomerangs.
Location? “Somewhere in Lekki.”

Meanwhile, it was right here in Uyo. 😂

Later that night, he texted:

I laughed, but it reminded me of something:

THAT ONE GUEST THAT CHANGED HOW I HANDLE BOOKINGS FOREVER…

Last month, I got a message from someone who wanted to book a serviced apartment for “just a night.”

Simple request, right?

He said, “I just need somewhere quiet to sleep. Nothing fancy.”

I sent him a few options. He picked the most affordable one.

Then came the twist…
He arrived with his wife and their two kids. 😳

“No problem,” I told myself. “It’s still a night.”

Until 11PM rolled in and he sent a message:

“Bro, do you have gas here? My wife wants to warm jollof for the kids.”

Now, some apartments allow cooking. But this one? Not this one.

I gently explained that to him. He sighed and said,

That’s when I learned: Never assume what people know.
