An open letter to Chief Barrister, Nyesom E. Wike CON.
Former Governor of Rivers State.

Before you ignite another round of political war in rivers state from January, 2026. Before you further heat up the polity, deepen divisions, and set brother against brother.
There is a fundamental moral and historical question you must answer to the people of Rivers State and more importantly, to the long suffering people of Ogoni.

WHERE IS THE $300MILLION MEANT FOR THE OGONI PEOPLE, which you were publicly accused of, by the founder of Sahara Reporters , MR OMOYELE SOWORE.

This question refused to go away, it haunts the conscience of rivers state, it echoes in OGONI LAND, where poverty still mocks promises, where polluted rivers still reflect broken assurances, and where development remains more rhetorical than real.

you have consistently, positioned yourself as a champion of justice, equity, and strong leadership, yet leadership without accountability is nothing but raw power, political strength without moral charity is a dangerous weapon.

Sir, before threatening political fire, and brain stone, before orchestrating confrontation that could plunge Rivers State into avoidable instability, Nigerians deserve clarity on matters that touch on public trust, resource justice, and historical injustice against the Ogoni people.

The Ogoni struggle is not a footnote in Nigeria's history. It is written in blood, environmental devastation, and decades of neglect. Any allegation, direct or indirect relating to funds meant to heal that land and restore dignity to its people must not be treated with silence, arrogance, or political distraction.

Before January 2026 arrives, with your threat of political fight, answer this question clearly and honestly.

WHERE IS THE $300MILLION OF OGONI PEOPLE, alleged by SOWORE.

History is watching.
Ogoni people are watching.
Rivers people are watching.

50TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION SPEECH My Life as an Activist

Today, as I stand at the golden age of fifty, I look back on a journey shaped not by comfort, but by conviction, by the belief that a single voice, used with courage, can challenge injustice and inspire change.

My life as an activist has never been about applause or recognition. It has been about refusing to look away when the rights of ordinary people are trampled, about speaking when silence would have been easier, about taking risks so that others may live in dignity, fairness, and freedom.

I have marched when my legs trembled.
I have spoken truth to power when my voice shook.
I have stood my ground when standing alone felt like standing against the world.

But through all these years, one lesson has shaped me most: ACTIVIST IS NOT A TITLE, IT IS A CALLING. It is the stubborn insistence that society can be better. It is the fire that refuses to die, even when the winds of oppression blow against it.

At 50, I am grateful for every challenge that toughened me, every battle that sharpened me, and every victory that reminded me why the struggle is worth it. I am grateful for the people who walked beside me fellow activists, friends, family who understood that service to humanity is the only true measure of a meaningful life.

Today is not just a celebration of age,
It is a celebration of impact.
Of footprints left on the sands of advocacy.
Of the courage to question systems.
Of the resilience to keep going, even when the road is lonely.

As I enter this new chapter, I do so with renewed strength, deeper wisdom, and an unbroken commitment to justice. If the first fifty years were about finding my voice, the next fifty will be about amplifying it for those who cannot speak.

Here’s to a life of purpose.
To struggles that refined me.
To victories that encouraged me.
And to the endless fight for a fairer world.

Happy 50th birthday to me, an activist by destiny, a voice for the voiceless, and a believer that change is possible.

PRESS STATEMENT

Marking International Human Rights Day 2024
Theme: "OUR RIGHTS, OUR FUTURE, RIGHT NOW"

Today, December 10, 2024, we the International human rights protection initiative Rivers state chapter, join the global community in commemorating International Human Rights Day under the theme, “OUR RIGHTS, OUR FUTURE, RIGHTS NOW.” This powerful theme underscores the urgent need to protect and promote human rights as the cornerstone of a just, equitable and inclusive society.

Seventy-six years after the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, its principles remain as relevant as ever. Human rights are not just ideas; they are practical tools to prevent harm, protect the vulnerable, and transform lives. Upholding these rights creates a society where everyone, regardless of background, lives with dignity, equality, and freedom.

This year’s theme emphasizes:

1. Urgency.

2. Empowerment.

3. Global Responsibility.

As we celebrate, we must also reflect on ongoing challenges. Discrimination, inequality and abuses continue to threaten the fabric of our societies. It is our shared responsibility for governments, civil society, and individuals alike to take bold steps to address these injustices.

On this day, let us reaffirm our dedication to the principles of human dignity, equality and justice. By working together, we can create a future where human rights are respected and protected for all.

Signed:
Comrade John Ihua. Dip, LLB.
State coordinator, international human rights protection initiative.

Sequel to the visit of the International Human Rights Protection Initiative, Rivers State Chapter executives, to the Rivers State Syringe Factory, we encountered an unpleasant experience. Based on this, we officially communicated our concerns to the Office of the Commissioner of Health.

Consequently, on the 9th of October 2024, we paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner of Health, Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh, at the Port Harcourt Secretariat. During the meeting, our grievances were amicably resolved and a cordial relationship was established. Discussions were also held regarding future collaboration with the ministry, aiming to strengthen the synergy and broaden the scope of Human Rights issues within the health sector in Rivers State.
