Topic 1..Divorce:
The courts hold the same position with Christians regarding divorce. As Christians, divorce is highly discouraged except the position of Mathew 19 v 9 as well as 1 Corinthians 7. Though it is highly debated that the above provisions are not an exception. The courts in every divorce request, consistently give room for reconciliation even until the matter has been decided.
10 things to know about Divorce:
1. Any party (husband or wife) can approach the Court for a dissolution of marriage.
2. Ground for dissolution can range from refusal to consumate or have sexual relationship to adultery.
3. The marriage should not be less than two years before dissolution is sought. The Court can grant an exception though.
4. The Court can grant an order for damages where adultery is alleged.
5. A Court can order for a judicial seperation even when divorce is intended.
6. The Court can make an order placing children or such of them as it deems fit to a different party.
7. An order to pay for maintainance of children may not apply to children above 21.
8. Order for property benefits may not include children above 21.
9. A trustee may be appointed by the court to ensure courts order.
10. A Court may decide to hold hearing in chambers.
