MILITARY AND POLICE BRUTALITIES IN NANTON UNDER THE WATCH OF NORTHERN REGIONAL MINISTER
Leadership of The Abudu Youth of Dagbon has taken sad notices of growing tensions in Nanton since Friday, the 5th of September 2025. We have carefully studied the pattern, actions and provocations against the people of Nanton since state military and Ghana Police Service forcefully moved Naa Bawa from Nanton Zuo to Nanton Wulankuro House.
Yesterday at the hours of 13:00 G.M.T onwards, reports had reached us that some Nanton citizens were arrested, brutalized and put behind bars while one female who sustained injuries from the brutalities was rushed to hospital. The Military and the Ghana Police Service by evening was unable to tell us crimes committed by these innocent citizens except that they were wearing talismans and that they didn’t like Naa Bawa. We have since been asking when talismans have been criminalized and when it has become compulsory to like Naa Bawa. This is highly undemocratic except if the NDC Government of John Dramani Mahama (represented by the Northern Regional Minister in the Northern Region) wants us to believe Ghana is now a military state.
Reports have further reached us that the Ghana Police Service and the state military have supervised one Chekko Naa and his hoodlums to rush back to Tamale to pick weapons meant to be used by some civilians from Tamale against the people of Nanton. This sends another signal ahead of tomorrow as announcement is made to the effect that Naa Bawa will be doing Quranic recitation. We are sensing that under the guise of Quranic recitation, the military and the police are to supervise an attack on Nanton citizens of Nanton.
These developments are not only unhealthy but gradually jeopardizing the peace of Nanton and Dagbon at large. The Hon. Regional Minister must immediately halt these dehumanizations of Nanton citizens or take responsibility when the tensions furth
